"Bryce build out four of my closets while we were completing our basement. We intended to use each closet/room for different purposes. He took thorough notes and measurements and sent me some mock ups based on what I told him I needed in each closet. He made sure we had all the necessary materials for the build and finished them quickly. I?ve loved having custom shelving in the closets rather than standard builder-grade installs."

"We originally hired Draven to remodel our old, yellow shower. He replaced it with a really nice tile shower with a glass door for us. After that we hired him to remodel our basement. He was the fifth guy we hired and the first to show up. The sewer backed up earlier this year and really made a mess. He had the drywall repaired, new flooring and trim installed, and a really nice paint job done. He also did a couple of handyman jobs that we needed done like adding an outlet and fixing our HVAC vents. He even hauled away some junk that weâ ve been meaning to get rid of. Overall he was professional at communicating and did a great job and finished on schedule. Hire Legrand Solutions for your home improvements!!"

"Amanda was really very good!  At first I was very skeptical, thinking why did I pay money to just speak with someone on the phone about my kitchen remodel project... but after just a few minutes of her addressing some of the issues/questions I emailed to her earlier, I knew it was worth it.  It was very clear that she knew her business and she gave me several ideas that I had not even thought about.  I told her that I would definitely recommend her to friends and I will very likely use her again myself for my next home project!

"Bellicose Construction was excellent. They had great communication, showed up to the job on time, did a fantastic job, and left everything clean and neat. We have worked with a lot of construction companies and this one was definitely top notch. We were very happy with their work and will definitely call them again. Highly recommend..."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Save money on your basement finishing project by making cost-effective decisions such as minimizing structural changes and avoiding costly construction revisions. DIY simpler tasks such as painting or basic cleanup to reduce labor costs. You can also opt for energy-efficient fixtures and materials that may qualify for rebates or tax incentives.

You technically can paint wires in a basement ceiling, but there are several important safety and code considerations. It's safe to paint non-metallic sheathed cable as long as the labeling remains visible. You can also paint low-voltage wires and conduit and junction boxes to help them blend into your basement.

However, you should not paint damaged or deteriorated wiring is a fire hazard because it poses a fire hazard. The same goes for painting over high-heat wires that connect to heat-generating appliances or systems. Be sure to avoid painting multiple coats onto any wires, as that traps heat and poses fire risks.

Egress windows or doors are required in finished basements to meet safety and building codes. If your basement is unfinished and used as a storage space, egress windows are not required, but anything considered a habitable space must have an additional point of egress in addition to the stairs.

Although it’s not required, air ventilation in a finished basement can help improve the air quality, prevent moisture and mold issues, keep musty odors away, and also maintain the air quality throughout the rest of your home. Proper ventilation will help maintain the value of your investment in finishing your basement. Try basement ventilation methods like installing vents or a dehumidifier for best results.

Basements with persistent moisture problems or flooding shouldn’t be finished until the moisture issues have been fixed. In addition, if your foundation is cracked, you have unmitigated radon levels, or you have asbestos or lead pipes, remediate the underlying problem before finishing your basement. Turning a basement into living space before fixing these issues can lead to serious health risks or structural damage.
