"My main contact, Robert, was really good about communicating with me what was going on. Because of the situation with my air-conditioning unit they had to come back at a different time during the day and when they did come back they got right to work, diagnosed the problem and fixed me up within an hour. He s also extremely knowledgeable along with the rest of the guys working on the project."

"They were quick to respond and come to check out the ac unit, it wasn't cooling. Had to replace with a new system, old system had a leak somewhere. Came the next day and installed the new unit. Lopez and Richards were very professional and had the unit replaced in 6 hours. Definitely recommend and will use again."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Troubleshooting common issues with your AC often sheds light on a problem with the compressor. Signs that you need to replace a bad compressor include your AC blowing warm air, short cycling (turning on and off), making strange noises, and blowing less air overall. Since these problems can stem from several areas of your AC, always call a local AC repair team to confirm it's the compressor.

Freon will go in the refrigerant lines near the back of your AC unit. Look for small ports with caps on a thin copper line—the Freon goes into those ports. You are best off hiring a licensed HVAC professional who can complete the job safely and correctly.

Most HVAC companies recommend against setting your AC below 70 as it could freeze up the system and cause more problems. Regardless of how hot it is outside, there is generally a 20 degree difference between the outside and inside temperatures, so even if it’s 100 degrees outside, your AC will likely not be able to cool your home to 70 degrees.

It’s not customary to tip HVAC technicians, and most professionals won’t expect it. However, it’s a nice way of showing your appreciation for the work they do, especially if they come out in inclement weather or on a weekend or holiday to fix an emergency issue if your heat or AC goes out in extreme temperatures. A good tip would be between 10% to 20% of the total bill, depending on how above and beyond the tech goes for your repair and on the total cost of your HVAC repair or service. For something like a routine tune-up or scheduled maintenance, tips aren’t expected.

Yes, mini split systems cool equally as well as central air. While a central system circulates air throughout the entire home at the same temperature, a mini split system allows each room to be cooled or heated at different temperatures based on your own preferences. Hire a HVAC professional to determine which type of system is best for your home.
