REVIEWS: http://www.yelp.com/biz/premium-cabinets-houston-houston We design kitchens and sell cabinetry. I generally meet new clients in my small showroom near the Westpark Tollroad. In order to give each customer the service and attention they deserve I meet people by appointment only. For years, almost everything we buy has been manufactured. Yet when most people think cabinets, they think of a a guy in a workshop custom making them. Why? Because the only options have been poorly made manufactured cabinets and various qualities of custom cabinets. The issue with custom is that the ones made using quality materials and time consuming craftsmanship are very expensive. We now have another option. It's quality manufactured cabinets. We use the same materials you will find in a high end custom cabinet, for a fraction of the price. Our cabinets are real wood - they are not made of MDF or particle-board. The doors and drawers both 'soft-close' and the drawers are full extension. None of our cabinets have a center dividing stile. We carry both classic and modern styles of cabinetry in a variety of colors. You may find cabinets or vanities a little cheaper, but they will not have the same quality and features. You may also find custom cabinets that are a little better, but they will cost considerably more. Simply put, we are the best value in cabinetry today.

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

If you don't sand your cabinets, the new paint or stain won’t adhere properly, impacting the final finish and leading to peeling, chipping, or a sloppy result that won't stand the test of time. Sanding removes the old finish, smooths imperfections, and gives the new coat something to grip. Without it, you will waste your time, money, and effort.

Costs depend on materials, labor, appliances, and whether electrical or plumbing modifications are required.

No, face frames aren’t required on cabinets—frameless cabinets don’t have them, for example. But because face frames add structure and strength to a cabinet, frameless cabinets need to compensate for not having any. This is why frameless cabinets are built differently, with overall thicker cabinet boxes.

Solid wood is a durable and attractive option for cabinet doors that holds up well against a small amount of moisture. However, solid wood doors will expand and contract, meaning upkeep will be necessary if painted. Particleboard with veneer cabinet doors are cost-effective and can be attractive. MDF cabinet doors offer excellent and predictable workability features. However, both of those options are vulnerable to damage if water finds its way through the veneer or paint finish.

Yes, sanding cabinets before you stain them helps the new stain better adhere to the surface. If you’re adding a darker stain to previously stained wood, you only have to sand them lightly enough to remove any finish and rough up the wood to improve adhesion. On the other hand, if you’re trying to stain wood that is a darker color or that has paint on it, you need to sand down to the original wood, or the color will show through the new stain.
