"I am pleased to report the fabulous interior/exterior paint job Johnson Painting provided us and only the highest praise for Dwayne Johnson and his team. They were courteous, prompt, extremely professional and left our home very clean. I wanted to give our home a fresh new look and am completely amazed by the results. I would highly recommend them!"

"Sonny Wences came to my rescue! Putting house on market and started the painting myself and after 2 weeks wasn’t half done!! Definitely got in over my head! Than I remembered Angi! Requested bids for 4 local companies. Within 30 minutes, Sonny called; after discussing details, had estimate that afternoon! Agreed to price and Sonny was there the next morning!! He was done that afternoon!! And great work too!! Would definitely recommend Sonny Wences Painting! Now on to sell the house!!"

"I could not have asked for a better experience.  Victor and his crew were all very professional and approachable.  They were all very particular about their work and any one of them could answer questions in an intelligent and concise manner. Victor provided a color palette and we chose 3 colors for various parts of our home.  The crew did a fantastic job and they were careful to clean up after themselves.  The quality of the repairs and the paint are great.  Beyond this, none of the crew smoked (at least not while working on my house).  They will be the first company I call for future work

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

You may end up with extra wallpaper once your project is finished. Hang on to that wallpaper, as you may need to use it to patch up areas that get damaged later on. If you have a lot of excess wallpaper, try getting creative with it. You can use it to line the inside of a cabinet or drawers, for example.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

Textured or patterned vinyl wallpaper designs are the best option for hiding imperfections. Embossed designs or faux finishes like brick, wood, or linen textures are especially effective at camouflaging dents, cracks, or uneven surfaces. Avoid smooth, shiny finishes, as they can highlight flaws rather than conceal them.

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.
