"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. "This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

While it’s possible to only replace an evaporator coil to keep your AC running, this could cause issues down the line. An AC system relies on the harmony between its condenser and evaporator coils for efficient operation. Replacing only one coil, especially in older units, can cause compatibility issues, leading to inefficiency and potential system breakdown. 

As AC units near the end of their expected lifespan, investing in the cost for a new AC system is typically better than paying for individual component upgrades to avoid costly repairs and ensure optimal performance.

The length of an AC cycle depends on the settings in your thermostat and the unit you have. Central AC doesn't constantly run at full blast the way that a window unit does. A cooling cycle in most homes is 15 to 20 minutes. Then, the unit stays off for seven to 10 minutes to circulate the cold air in the house before the cycle repeats. It should repeat two or three times per hour. A short cycle lasts less than 10 minutes and then turns off.

You can run an HRV with air conditioning—assuming that you decide to keep the system on during the summer. The HRV will continue to bring in fresh outdoor air, which will then flow into your AC unit and cool down your home. It will also keep moving the stuffy indoor air out of your house.

Yes, you should turn off your AC if it’s leaking. Turning off the AC will prevent more condensation from leaking from your unit, and it will also reduce the increased strain on the system if a damaged internal component or a lack of refrigerant is the culprit. As soon as you notice a leak, turn off the system and investigate the source of the leak or call a pro to inspect it.

Diagnose whether your HVAC damper is bad by assessing airflow. For a manual damper, close it and run your system. Air should stop flowing through the associated vents. If you feel air, it’s likely a bad damper that requires repair or replacement. Automatic dampers should maintain your desired room temperature. If not, they may be faulty, and you may need to invest in some HVAC repair costs.
