Small jobs welcome

We manage the whole process, from the preliminary estimating to the final clean-up, with thorough attention to detail and open communication. I believe in working with people and keeping them informed every step of the way. Quality takes priority, either a job is done right or it’s not worth doing at all. After all, this is a tailor- made service for you. \n

"We had an excellent experience. Ken was easy to deal with, they were prompt, they cleaned up, they problem solved when unexpected issues came up, they talked to us about changes and made wonderful suggestions. He was the best contractor I have hired in the last 7 years."

"We just had two different jobs done on our home by 5 Star Painting! We are thrilled to have found this company. We have our own home, plus 5 rent homes.v It has always been a challenge finding painters that are any good to maintain all of our homes. Or to show up when they say, etc. Then I found 5 Star on Home Advisor. Wendy came out first, viewed the job, then gave us a price. We agreed. We liked that they are insured and bonded. Their ad states they are always on time, never ask for a penny up front, and never up their bid. Everything they say in their ad is true! They showed up each day when they said they would be there. The work is beautiful, and done with such care and attention to detail. We had them do a second job besides painting the home, and that was to restain and renew our deck railings, Absolutely beautiful job! Thank you to the owners, Wendy and James. Also, kudos to all of the workers who were so polite, excellent workers, and did such a beautiful job. WE have more jobs on our home and on our rent homes for them. Wendy and James are the best! So happy to have found some painters that we can rely on. We frequently need painting work, and now we have an excellent, trustworthy company we can rely on! Thank you, again, to 5 Star Painting. We are so pleased to have found you! I will post further reviews as we have more work done!!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on coating type, labor, site preparation, and required finishes.

Whether to paint or stain a deck depends on your personal preference for appearance and budget. Stain provides a natural look with a range of undertones, is typically less expensive, and may only require one coat, but it does not last as long as paint. Paint offers a sleeker finish with a virtually unlimited color palette. Both options will protect your deck from outdoor elements like rain, snow, and general wear and tear.

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.

Waterproof paint creates a barrier to hold back moisture, but it doesn’t eliminate the source of the water. If you hire a basement waterproofing contractor, many will tell you that waterproof paint is only a temporary solution. On average, you can expect it to last from six months to two years in a wet basement before deteriorating.

Yes, you can waterproof any wood that has not already been treated. A good way to test this is to splash some water on it. If the water starts to bead up, the wood is treated and most likely doesn’t need another coating.
