"Last October, my sister, an elderly veteran living alone, contracted Genie Bath Systems to remodel her master and guest baths. She was diagnosed cancer and passed before the remodel was complete. Which, to be fair as we were not able to work with Genie while attending to my sister. The contract was expensive. Very expensive. The cost of the remodel is close to 1/4th the value of her home. I noticed there were issues with the remodel that showed a surprising lack of attention to detail. Genie sent people to address the issues twice. Yet issues remain. My calls to my contact at Genie are now being ignored. Also, the only document I have for the remodel is the contract my sister signed. It is not detailed. I have and continue to ask for a breakdown of the cost. An estimate or work order. This request is also being ignored. I am disappointed and have to wonder why Genie will not provide this information. I have several other questions for Genie that I will not go into here. But based on my experience, I cannot recommend Genie. In fact I would warn anyone considering Genie to be very careful about the cost of the contract."

However, winterizing your sprinkler system is a relatively simple (if somewhat time-consuming and tedious) process, and it can help ensure your system won’t be damaged over the winter, even if it does freeze.

It depends on your climate and landscaping needs. If your lawn is turning brown, that’s a sign it needs more water, so run your sprinkler for about 20 minutes. If your lawn is healthy or if it rained in the past day or two, run your sprinkler for 10 minutes. A general rule of thumb is to run your sprinklers every other day or every three days. Use your best judgment based on your lawn’s health and needs.

The pipe trenches for an in-ground irrigation system should be at least seven inches underground, but no more than 10 inches. Seven to 10 inches is the sweet spot for irrigation line depth because the pipes can crack if they're too close to the surface.
