I started having problems with him when I would ask if he kept records of major things done to my pool and he stated that he does not keep records just copies of recipts that are "difficult" to go through. So, the warrenty with him for items such as heaters, pool lights or any other repairs that he has done may be expired....unless you have kept every single handwritten recipt. A few months ago,he informed me that it was time to have my filters cleaned and that it is going to cost me X amont of money and swear that he had just cleaned them.... so I started going through my pile of reciepts only to find that he had already done that in the last few months. This is a HUGE problem because he will fix your pool or any problems encountered at a top dollar rate but doesn't really keep track of it. If I had not told him, "Hey, I think that you already did that!" In which his answer was "Oh thats right!" I would be out more $$$.
The problems have only become increasingly worse because he recently installed a new pool light in my pool along with some tile work and he refused to give me the recipt of the fancy pool light so that I could keep for my records, he also gave me the "manuel" of operation for the pool light as a picture text leaving out any identifying markers of the product, which seemed suspicious. I then went underwater to obtain the specific information on the pool light and came to find out that he was charging me $200.00 more than the retail price directly from the manufacture. When I asked him for some level of transparancy with recipts (understanding that there are upcharges for obtaining the items and the labor for installation) he flat out said that his services were like purchasing a car, you will NEVER get to know what their cost or upcharges are because it is simply not done in HIS buisiness. He flat out refused.
Once he compared himself to a car salesman that cant give you any reassurance as far as pricing is concerned. We were done. If you are an honest individual why hide things? I am in the medical field if a patient wishes to know how much a lab test costs or what the pricing is on something I show them. I don't have anything to hide, because my patients and I establish a relationship and a level of trust. Which is what was broken in this instance. You might be wondering why on earth we stayed so long with this guy, well the honest truth is laziness. Too lazy to take the time and find something else, My husband and I are both professionals with kids so there is little time.
My bottom line is that if money is no object and you want to just trust that in good faith that he is giving you the best price possible. Brenden will do fine. However, if you are looking for transparancy and don't just want to take his word for it, I would suggest looking elswhere.
****UPDATE**** I have updated my review since the original because brenden contacted me in reguards to my review. He states that he never let my pool turn green, which I think in the equivelent in my field would be I have never killed a patient. But the statement is true, my pool was never green but again, my issue was never with the fungal concentration in my pool. Never at any point in our meeting did he offer to reassure me with paperwork that I was being overcharged. HE stated that he "checked" to make sure that his prices were fair and he says they were. I am glad he thinks so. By the way that extra $200 for the pool light is for the exrta warrenty service that he gives you for installing the light (remember that the record keeping is hand written reciepts). He stated that had I purchased the pool light from anyone else such as online, No one in the valley would have ever installed it. I find that hard to believe.

The first problem is that we did not have a realtor with us, we went on our own, because of this they were not going to pay anything towards closing cost. Zero! Untill our Loan Officer and my sister who is a Loan Processor said that was wrong. They fought it for me and finally got the builder to put down some money towards closing cost. Due to dispute in price they were told on buying the land they were going to build our house on, construction was delayed untill June 2010. At first everyone seemed very nice. We were excited about our new home untill we started seeing the end results.The kitchen, bathroom cabinets that were built were to be stained a dark cherry wood instead they were spray painted a dark brown to look like dark cherry wood. Our brand new garage had a crack in the foundation going from across the room, most of the outlet switches for lights and electrical outlits were crooked, the window sill's in the front living room and dinning room were cracking in the middle, the back patio was not leveled correctly so when it rained water would pull up on one side of the patio. We could have delt with everything but when we saw the crack in the foundation in the garage that was the last straw. We could not see ourselves buying a new house that already had a crack in the foundation. So we called Villaneva Construction to let them know. We took them to small claims court to get our $2000.00 earnest money back due to the house was not completed by the contract date which was July 31, 2010. The house was completed the middle of August. The most disturbing thing is that they did a complete 180. They told lies in letters to us stating we had delayed the project. They claimed they had tried to contact us several times and could never get a hold of us, that we dalayed because we took awhile giving them the tile info ( which I have email's proving we sent them all the tile info months before they decided to finally go get it and then it was sold out), light fixtues, final inspection, and permanent light service. The crazy thing is that while building the house they wanted us to call the electric company put the light service on in our name so they can get the inspection. At first I aggreed because I wasn't sure how that was handled but that day after thinking about it I called them the next day to tell them I did not feel comfortable putting the electricity in my name when we didn't even own the house yet. The house was still being built which means I would have to pay for all that electricity and didn't even own the house. They did have to redo the roof due to me because when I saw the frame of the roof it was not how I wanted it. Supposedly the floor plan I had picked was not the roof I wanted. The very next day it was fixed. Not sure how one day delayed months of delays. We had our court date with every single email I had saved proving there weren't any dalays on our part and pictures of the house. Our case was due to the contract it states if the house is not completed by contract date (July 31)Seller would be in default and buyer receive earnest money. The judge did not see it that way. He ruled in their favor without seeing any pictures or emails. I thought our contract would have seeled the deal but it didnt happen that way. It is too late for us but if this can help any one else I would be happy! The worst thing a company can do is lie, I lost all respect for that company because of their lies. I have saved all my email's and pictures to prove them in their lies. Most important always have a realtor. Good Luck!"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/mcallen/villanueva-construction-llc-reviews-6179969.htm"},"position":10}]}

You should hire a licensed electrician who is insured to perform any electrical work on your home, including lighting installation. States have different requirements for licensing and certifying electricians, so use Angi’s state licensing tool to review local guidelines.
Here are a few questions to ask electricians before hiring:
How many years of electrical experience do you have?
Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?
Do you work with subcontractors?
Do you provide a guarantee or warranty on your work?
What is the timeline for completion?
How do you handle change orders?
Can you provide at least three customer references?
