Joe was late every time and did not answer his calls or return phone calls. He left the first job unfinished without ever telling us what happened. He was unable to fix the crown molding back on the cabinets, and he left part of our cabinets with exposed unfinished sides. He was paid for a full complete job, and the job is not complete. I would have even been willing to pay more to get it finished, but after he finished the second job, he completely disappeared, and i was never even given the chance to complain. The Second job was even worse. We are having the following problems with the floor: (i) the tiles are cracking in a section of the floor (ii) floor is noticeably uneven, leaving sharp lifted corners (iii) some of the tiles installed are broken and some have jagged edges (iv) some grout lines are noticeably thicker than others, and there is grout missing by the fireplace. It is completely horrible for the amount of money we paid him. Our builder, as well as another flooring specialist, has confirmed that the tile was incorrectly cut and installed. I reported him to the BBB and will take him to court over the installation. Now we will have to buy new tile and completely redo the floor. The worst thing of all, is that instead of apologizing, he does not take any responsibility for his actions!"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/nc/charlotte/big-blue-builders-reviews-109197.htm"},"position":10}]}
I couldn't be happier with the epoxy flooring in my garage! They did an amazing job and it turned out exactly how I envisioned it
Love working with Nicole. Very personable and professional. Great recommendations on my flooring. Will definitely recommend her. The installation crew was likewise very prompt and professional. They are all absolutely wonderful.
We were very pleased with Garagewerx for the wonderful job they did on our garage floor! They went above and beyond to do a great job! Our floor had multiply patches from having our foundation repaired several years before. You cant even see where they are now. We would highly recommend this...
We had foundation repair done to our home this past spring. We found Floor Menders on Angie's and made an appointment for Kevin to reinstall our current good condition carpet in our master bedroom. We assumed from Angie's list that the cost would be approx $99 since we had no furniture to...
Wood flooring cupped within 2 months . Owner, Dawne Stewart inspected and vowed to replace . Months later she blamed the manufacturer. We hired an independent inspector who determined it was "improperly installed".The company stalled by saying they were waiting for replacement flooring to be...

"I do not like to leave negative reviews, but I feel a responsibility to do so for future clients. We thought this experience would be great, the sales person RJ was very responsive especially in the beginning. Things started taking a turn for the worse when the painters took 2 1/2 months to complete a job that should have taken 2 to 3 weeks at most. They did not use any protective covers and either left paint all over our new floors, new tile, and furniture or ruined things such as our new electrical wires that they coated with drywall. They also left holes and huge seams in our brand new ceiling along with gaps in the drywall, among so many other things. Our completion date was October, then November, then December, then January and we finally just had to move into the unfinished home. Some of the contractors did a great job and the others we obviously not trained to do the job they were hired for. Unfortunately, we had paid everything up front except a small amount for an add on service. They did not care that we were not happy all they wanted was the money due. They came out and did finally hire someone competent to fix our ceiling and the holes in our wall but then they sent out the same team that made the mistakes to "fix" some other items and it was just terrible work. My husband and I are not people who typically complain about things but we spent close to $100,000 and we were really disappointed that the work was done poorly and we were dealt with so poorly. Honestly there is so much more I could list but I am so exhausted by all of this and I just want to be done with it. I hope this keeps someone else from going through the same thing."

The cost of flooring installation is $3,000 for the average homeowner. This cost can range from $1,500 to $4,500, depending on the project size, flooring material, and any special features. For example, if stairs need new flooring, you can expect to pay about $11 to $160 per step. Additionally, hardwood flooring costs significantly more than linoleum, with hardwood ranging from $6 to $22 per square foot and linoleum costing $3 to $7 per square foot.
Believe it or not, adding new flooring—especially floors like hardwood, laminate, tile, or vinyl—can add significant value to your home. If you update your flooring close to when you sell your home, you can see up to a 70% ROI on your new floors. Adding new flooring to your home is one of the quickest ways to make the whole room look refreshed and new, which is a positive point for selling.
While you certainly can install new flooring yourself, it may not always be the best idea. Since the condition of the floors is a significant component of your property’s value, it’s important that your project looks professionally done. If not, you run the risk of needing to have them replaced again before selling your home. If you’re looking to save money on the cost of floor installation, consider removing the old flooring yourself to save on labor costs.
When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.
Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
It takes about one to three days for a two-person crew to lay 800 to 1,000 square feet of flooring daily. Remember that removal of existing flooring and additional prep work is considered during this time, and it’s likely that you won’t be able to pass through the room easily. In addition, you can expect lots of hammering and other noise from power tools during installation, so it’s best to plan accordingly.
