Being new to Texas (moved from Illinois about 7 weeks prior to the incident), I didn't have a local mechanic.I had my truck towed to a local dealership to take a look and provide an estimate. They said all of my brake lines had blown out and provided a verbal estimate of $5500 - $6000 to replace them.
I wanted to have a second opinion, so had my truck towed to Steve Sharrock. I had seen positive reviews on Angie's List for Steve and I thought I'd give him a try. I'm so glad I did. He took a look at it and said only 1 line had blown out and provided an estimate of $750 - assuming nothing else was found during the repair.
Steve completed the repairs for $1050 (1additional item did pop up that he needed to replace). That is quite a difference from the dealership's $5500 - $6000.
I gave Steve all A's except for punctuality (which I gave a B) as it took a bit longer than we expected (but much of that was out of his control due to holidays, parts ordering delays, etc.). Steve answered all of our questions, reviewed what he did and why and said he replaced the 1 additional item because if it was his car, he'd want to have it taken care of. As one of my questions for new businesses I work with is "what would you do if it was your mom's?", his statement was good enough for me.
Bottom line, I'll be taking my future repair and maintenance work to Steve Sharrock and telling others about my positive experience with him.
They checked my tires, fluids, oil, brakes, etc. They changed filters, oil and made sure all the tires were good and brakes worked properly.
This is a very honest auto repair provider. They do not insist on any work to be done...it's you call. They will alert you to issues that will need to be addressed such as tire rotation, brake work, oil change. The prices are very fair and you feel like you
