I am owner-operated business. I am Southern Guy's Landscaping & Design. www.southernguys.org. We hold a commercial and residential licenses under Texas department of Agriculture for herbicide. I been in Business over 5 years. We specialize in mowing, fertilizer, herbicide, rock work, stone work, all types of fencing, French drain, Tree work, landscaping and irrigation.

"I have used Southern Guys Landscaping (Joe O) for two projects. The first project was a french drain with multiple downspout captures routed into the french drain. The design concept was really neat with videos provided showing how it worked. I was impressed with the quality of the materials and the quality of the installation. I was impressed with the entire experience so I had them bid the construction of a firepit area with round limestone brick boarder, black star gravel, and CUSTOM pavers. Came out really pretty but most importantly, the construction (footers, landscape fabric, rebar ... etc) was top notch construction. They are now my go-to Guys!!!"

"After getting 3 estimates and checking out a job they were doing at the time, we decided to go with S & A Welding and Fabrication. Sebastian beat the other estimates by a substantial amount yet his work and work ethic was everything we hoped for and expected. He really listened to what we wanted, offered professional suggestions in things specific to metal construction and followed the blueprints to achieve the Barndominium we wanted. He was recommended to us by a friend who used them and we will definitely carry that forward and recommend them to others."

Wrought Iron questions, answered by experts

You don't need gravel under metal fence posts, but it's always a good idea to add it in. Adding about six inches of gravel before you pour concrete will provide better water drainage, which can help to prolong the lifespan of your new fence and maximize its stability.

Posts for a horizontal fence should be no more than 6 feet apart. Wood pickets are not as strong when mounted horizontally as when mounted vertically. As such, the fence panels on a horizontal fence can’t cover the same span between posts as a vertical fence can. If you install the posts further apart on a horizontal fence, the fence will lose stability, making the boards more likely to sag.

Installing a fence in fall and winter will often save you money. These are the slow times for most fencing companies since fewer people tend to use their backyard during these seasons. Plus, installing a wood fence during the fall allows the wood to season without the heat of the summer sun.

Galvanized metal, vinyl, and composite fences are known to last the longest out of all types of fences. These fence types will last well over 30 years with proper care. Galvanized metal doesn’t attract pests and has a special coating to better withstand weather. Vinyl and composite materials are pest-resistent and will withstand harsh weather for many years.

The distance between fence posts is guided by the terrain you’re installing them on, the purpose of the fence, and the material it’s made of. For the average wooden garden fence, posts should be about 6 to 8 inches apart. But if you’re going with a mesh, wire, lattice, or chain link fence, you could set the fence posts anywhere from 6 to 25 feet apart.
