At J CO. SERVICES LLC. Our main platform is fencing, gates, and site work maintenance in Industrial, Commercial, and Residential areas. On our residential side we do a wide variety of projects such as painting (interior and exterior), new fencing and repair work, pressure washing, remodeling, decking build-outs, pergolas, storage sheds, junk and trash removal, custom build outs and much more. If there is something that is needed to be done we are unable to get to we can sub contract the work to trusted businesses that we know and would recommend. We are a small owner operated business that is insured through a well know insurance agency and I am a straight forward, honest business owner. I like to take on projects and complete them as if they were being done on my own property.

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Trenching is a specific kind of digging. Trenching means digging a depression in the earth that’s deeper than it is wide, often with heavy machinery. Digging refers to any kind of removal of earth in order to create a human-made depression, hole, or cut in the earth’s surface. You can dig with big tools or even with just a hand shovel.

Trenches are typically 12 inches to 24 inches deep and 8 inches wide. However, your city or county may have specific ordinances that clarify the dimensions needed for the project. For instance, a water pipe may need to be 24 inches deep, but a drainage pipe may need to be 36 inches deep.

It all depends on the scope of the project. A trencher can certainly save time and energy, but you might not need to dig that deep in the first place. Aside from the depth of the trench, the quality of the soil matters. If it’s light, soft soil, you might try a shovel first. However, if the soil is rocky and hard or there are obstructions in it, like tree roots, a machine trencher might be the better option.

No, fire blight does not survive free in the soil but instead is carried through insects, animals, rain, or wind during the spring. Keep in mind that it can also spread on tools, which is why you should always disinfect them in between cuts.

If you’re planning to dig on your property, you’ll need to check for underground utility lines. Call the national call-before-you-dig 811 number. Once connected to an operator, you can schedule a site visit to mark underground lines. This way, you won’t accidentally dig into pipes and can cause major (read: costly) issues.
