"Overall experience was great from start to finish. Stonework was done above expectations and in a very timely fashion. Randall spent a lot of time making sure we were happy with the progress of the stone work as well as the landscaping! Super happy with the outcome would definitely recommend!"

"I contracted with A Quality 1 on 12 Mar 24 and it took over 5 weeks for them to complete the work - and it was sub-par across thw board. When finished, there where large gaps/open areas between the sod pieces, the preparation/placement for river rock was sloppy and edging was uneven and loose. They stickly adhered to the estimate originally give, but better customer interface with additional guidance/suggestions would have been appropriate; i.e., the river rock was poured over water sprinklers that they didn't cap or turn off -- it would seem appropriate to suggest or offer to do that... Last month, I hired another contractor to "fix" the sod, river rock and edging shortalls of A Quality 1. On Friday, 7 June, the contractor pulled a 12-inch spike out of the ground next to some edging work that A Quality 1 had done - this exposed a puncture to the main water line. The spike was "self-sealing" the puncture until it was removed. I have pictures and videos of the punctured water line when discovered and after the $711.00 repair. A Quality 1 does not accept responsibility for the water line puncture and refuses to reimburse me the repair cost. I may have been generous in giving them an "Overall Rating" of two stars..."

"Cesar and his crew are the best! He did exactly what I wanted even though I was at work when the project was done. The project was completed on time, with absolutely no evidence that workers had been there. I highly recommend!!!"

Stone and Gravel questions, answered by experts

Choosing the right paint color for a major investment like painting the exterior brick on your house can be a daunting task. Perhaps the most important thing is to find painted brick houses that you like and replicate the look by researching their colors and asking the homeowners for the paint color code. If all else fails, white-painted brick is a timeless, classic look that is unlikely to go out of style.

Fireclay is a type of clay but it is a type of clay that, because of its chemical composition, can be fired at a much higher temperature than other clays. This results in a denser and more heat-resistant final material. Because of the high percentage of a mineral called kaolin, fireclay sinks are smoother and more durable than other clay types.

Yes, concrete is significantly stronger than masonry, especially if the concrete pour includes reinforcements, like steel rebar. Concrete is a uniform material that can withstand compression, sheer force, and tensile force as long as it’s reinforced. Masonry involves the use of mortar or grout to connect individual building materials, like brick, stone, or tile. Mortar and grout are also reasonably strong and resist compression well, but they don’t come close to the strength of poured concrete.

A traditional rectangular brick that is used for siding, brick walks, and pathways is 8 inches long by 4 inches wide. If you are shopping for fire bricks, the standard dimension is typically 9 inches long by 4.5 inches wide.

A fireplace is, by definition, an enclosed space where you burn wood or other fuel for the purpose of generating light and heat. A firepit burns wood and is much less expensive to build, but they aren’t technically a fireplace as it isn’t enclosed. An outdoor oven—commonly outdoor brick pizza ovens—often uses wood as fuel, but its primary purpose is to cook food, and you’d rarely just burn wood inside them for warmth or aesthetic reasons.
