"These guys did a fantastic job. They arrived on time, communicated with me as to what they were doing and finished when they said they would. The ceiling in my home has a rough transition to the wall, but they were able to make the paint line perfectly crisp and straight. My wife was very happy about that I would definitely recommend."

"I contacted Alejandro Sanchez Remodeling to get a quote for a LOT of painting I needed done. They came out the next day at the time they said they would, gave me a time frame for work completion, and a very reasonable quote for all the work I needed done: painting all the gutters around my house, the exterior walls of my sunroom, all of my indoor walls, and my kitchen cabinents! Every day they arrived when they said they would, worked hard all day, and stayed in contact with me regarding how and what they were doing and were extremely polite every single time we talked:) When they finished, they gave me time to look everything over to make sure I was completely satisfied before they left and even gave me a few tips on how to make my own future attempts at painting things easier, but.... I am positive nothing I can do will come close to the wonderful and detailed work they provided! Alejandro Sanchez Remodeling gets all A's from me!!!"

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

Yes, you can apply peel-and-stick wallpaper over wood paneling, but it requires significant preparation for a good result. Peel-and-stick wallpaper has a weaker adhesive than traditional wallpaper and works best on smooth, non-textured surfaces like painted or primed drywall. Because wood paneling is often textured with grooves, any flaws in the underlying surface will likely be visible after application. To prepare the paneling, you must ensure the surface is free of cracks, holes, and protrusions by filling any indentations and sanding rough spots to create a smooth surface. An alternative is to remove the paneling and apply the wallpaper directly to the underlying drywall or plaster, provided it is in good condition.

Once again, contact with moisture is the culprit here, though water-resistant varieties of wallpaper are less likely to become wet and develop mold. Using a high-quality exhaust fan or dehumidifier and leaving the doors or windows cracked after bathing will keep this issue at bay.

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.

Installation typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the wall’s size and site conditions.
