"A.Gurrola Tree Service did an outstanding job for me. They showed up earlier than the original time discussed and trimmed some limbs that were hanging over the house and while they were there, I asked about some trees to be removed and they did it the same day at a very reasonable price. I will recommend them to anyone and I have future projects that I will use them on!"

"Brushwacker showed up at the scheduled time and got to work. The job they did was amazing! My project will be completed in phases and they were more than fine with that. I WILL DEFINITELY be using them and ONLY them going forward. I am extremely happy with their professionalism and quality of work. I felt that their price was fair for what they accomplished. If I could rate them higher I would!"

"Was very knowledgeable, explained the process with proficiency in layman terms for a beginner to understand. Hired to grind one stump and after discussing a future project, his price was so satisfactory, I hired him on the spot for that one as well. Very pleased with the results. Highly recommend."

Customers say: True professional

"DR Bob treated my tree for Dutch elm disease, as well as my shrubs for spider mites, and black spot. Definitely cheaper than replacing all my shrubs, which I was preparing to do. Prompt and professional. Fingers crossed, this works!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

While the trees in your backyard are good for the environment and look beautiful, they could present a danger to your home under the wrong circumstances. This task is typically beyond the capabilities of the average homeowner due to its dangerous nature, so it’s best to leave this task to a professional. In some cities, it’s even illegal to remove a tree yourself.

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.

Trees should be pruned every two to five years, depending on its age and type. Young trees should be inspected and pruned every two to three years. Mature trees should be inspected and trimmed every three to five years, and fruit trees should be pruned annually with a careful eye on seasonal growth. Evergreens typically don’t need pruning, unless branches or limbs are damaged, diseased, or harboring pests.

There are a few general rules to follow that will help you prune your trees correctly. One of the most important rules is to prune during the correct season for the type of tree you have. Typically, pruning should be during late winter. For younger trees, you should not remove more than a ⅓ of the tree's crown when pruning. Also, remember to remove dead and diseased branches first, then proceed with pruning the rest of the tree.

Maple trees start the growing season by developing small groups of red flowers where the tree's fruit, the samaras, will appear in the coming weeks. Later in spring, the samaras, which many call whirlybirds or similar names, develop into single-winged seed carriers that spin when falling or drifting in the wind.
