"I can't tell you how much my family loves Bob, not only for his work but for his character. My kids get so excited when they see "bob the builder" pull up. He knows what he is doing and his team's work is A+++ but he also CARES about your house. He even came over on a Saturday morning one time to look at a leak we had overnight. His team of guys work fast and diligently with attention to detail. We plan on hiring him for all of our future house needs! Highly recommend."

"We met with Wally, showed him the very rough plans we had, discussed our ideas and the vision we had for the end result. He "got it".  After a couple of meetings and revisions we had plans that encompassed our ideas with his design knowledge and expertise. It wasn't easy to take an existing structure that couldn't be changed and design a workable, functioning unique interior but Wally was able to do just that.
We found him very open and easy to work with. His explanations of what would and wouldn't work were valuable knowledge for us.
We would certainly work with Wally again and not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing an architect/designer.

"The crew for Mandela Construction were all very professional and knowledgeable. They took their time making sure the privacy fence was level and if it didn't look right to them they took the time to make it look beautiful . The fence ooks perfect. I do recommend Mandela Construction and I will use them again in the future."

Garages questions, answered by experts

In some cases, a detached garage can be considered extra living space, but you will need to gain permission and comply with your local building code. Depending on where you live, you may need permits for a variety of installations, including electrical work, plumbing, and structural work. Many homeowners make the mistake of converting a garage into a living space without acquiring permits, which can result in hefty fines and even the removal of your hard work. Furthermore, a detached garage doesn’t add to the livable square footage of your home when it’s time to sell.

When choosing a garage door, start by considering your budget, the weather in your area, and how the door will complement your home’s look. If you’re not sure where to begin, call a local garage door company. They’ll help you figure out what matters, guide you through options, and take care of the installation.

The ideal temperature for your garage in the winter is between 40 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Maintaining a minimum temperature of at least 40 to 50 degrees is crucial to prevent pipes, liquids, and other items from freezing. Low temperatures can also drain your car battery, so keeping the garage stable is vital for your vehicle. While the lower end of the range protects your belongings, the higher end is based on your personal preference for a comfortable space. If you struggle to keep the temperature from dropping below 40 degrees, consider installing a garage heater.

Plexiglass garage doors are a durable and less expensive alternative to garage doors, and they maintain a similar aesthetic. Other elegant types of garage doors include carriage house garage doors and stylish wooden garage doors, but these don’t offer the same look as glass, of course.

In addition to being less expensive, nylon garage door rollers are actually much quieter than steel rollers. However, many homeowners find that they wear out prematurely compared to steel. In general, more expensive steel rollers are more durable. However, their nosiness can make them less than ideal for garages that are located beneath a home's bedrooms.
