Recently relocated to Grayson County. We've been serving Texas and other states for 13 years in building ground up commercial buildings, additions, and renovations. We specialize in structural steel fabrication and erection, custom steel fabrication, gates and entryways. We were designing and building Barndominiums before people knew what they were. We do the job right or not at all. We guarantee our work, and we often takeover failing or abandoned projects and get the project completed. We've built and have tore down and rebuilt many very large churches. We've done a lot of historical renovations and dealt woth the historical regulations, etc. We've done a lot of work at The Grandscape in The Colony Tx. We worked on The Dallas Morning News, The Statler Hotel as well as many other hotels, high end retail and entertainment districts. \n We have worked and a General contractor holding responsibility for a project from conception to planning and development, through completion.

"The shutters we ordered, were made overseas.  When the shutters came in, we were in the middle of a remodel of our house.
The owner was very understanding, and kept the shutters until we had completed the painting, of the inside of our house.
These shutters were installed without marring any of the new paint.  The installers were very professional, and left the house in the same shape as when they arrived.  We are very happy with the results.

"I'm very tough to please, and Charles and Larry Means and their crew couldn't have made me happier. They began with a thorough and professional estimate and then scheduled the job as soon as I gave them the go-ahead. While working, they arrived on schedule each morning, took great care of my home and went above and beyond the agreed job scope by noticing (and fixing) lots of issues that we'd never discussed beforehand. They left my home clean at the end of each day and, throughout the day, walked me around to make sure I was satisfied and that I understood their approach.
It makes a big difference to have experienced company owners on site (and working!) the entire time. These guys know their business and are committed to doing things the right way. I've been doing a major house renovation for several months and have had a lot of hiccups along the way. Means Painting renewed my faith that there are quality vendors out there who take pride in their work and also price their services fairly.  They'll be my first call next time I need painting help, and I'm excited to recommend them to my friends.

" Original Review
I had roof damage from the hail storm that moved through the McKinney area in March of 2017. I contacted Braden from Acclaim (he had previously been by my house & did a roof inspection & wanted to repair the roof at that time but I hadn't owned it when I'm guessing another storm had been through) and setup an inspection. So far, so good. Braden was out to inspect within a day or two & we worked with my insurance adjuster to get that part done. When my insurance came to inspect they noticed screen damage on all of my windows so that was written in as well. I bring this up to say that the sub-contractor they used to have this work done was extremely professional and took great pride in his work. Sorry for the digression: back to the roof repair review. Boiled down, during the roof replacement a small section of decking was damaged (see attached pictures). I sent the pictures to my insurance company & Acclaim also contacted them to ask for additional money to repair the damaged decking but my insurance company noted that the damage wad not part of the storm damage that it was caused by the contractor's that were working on my roof. So I'm putting this review out here to show the damaged decking (see attached pictures) & hopefully I can come back and edit my review to show that Acclaim fixed the damage caused by the repair. To date I've been unhappy with how this has been handled - Acclaim says that the builder used "cheap material" to put the roof on originally & that that is the cause. However, it is only damaged in the areas I've shown & if the decking was in such bad shape why wasn't this mentioned on the original inspection of the roof. In any case, I'll follow up here and list the final resolution with pictures and more details.

Follow Up Review
Acclaim (Lloyd & Whitney) got back with me and they arranged to replace the decking that was damaged and make my roof look (internally & externally) awesome. I appreciate them for taking ownership of the issue because in their view it was something that my insurance company should have paid for. They came out, pulled the old damaged decking out and put in new decking and shingles. Everything looks as it should."

Window Shutter Repair questions, answered by experts

Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.

Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.

The most popular estate shutter brands include Hunter Douglas, Budget Blinds®, and Graber®. Hunter Douglas shutters cost $20 to $26 per square foot and include high-quality hardwood and faux wood options. Budget Blinds shutters cost $20 to $24 per square foot, depending on if you choose natural wood or another material. Depending on the material, Graber shutters range from $18 to $24 per square foot.

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.
