"Came out snaked drain charged $100, within days drain reclogged. They came back out performed the exact same service and charged $125 for the call back to resolve same issue. They didn’t mention the that there would be a fee for the call back until services were rendered. I called to see if overcharge was a misunderstanding. Spoke directly to Paul the owner. He told me a bold faced lie that he himself performed the service. At which point I hung up. They don’t stand behind their work and apparently make up their pricing on a whim. Had I known I’d be charged even the same fee for a callback let alone $25 dollars more. I would have called another service since they couldn’t handle a simple clogged drain. I will not call them again and highly recommend no one else does. No excuse for dishonesty. Especially when it comes from the owner."

Unlike regular cleanings, snaking your sewer line should be done as needed. There’s no reason to snake your sewer line if you don’t have any noticeable issues, like slow drainage or plugged drains. You can add it to your regular sewer cleaning checklist as a prevention method (on the same 18- to 22-month schedule), but it’s not always necessary. 

To get rid of a sewer smell in your crawl space, you’ll have to find the source of the problem. If it has to do with your sewer lines, then repairing the line will help. You may need to make other repairs, like fixing your sump pump or encapsulating your crawl space to reduce moisture. After you make the repair, depending on the issue, you may still need to clean out your crawl space to get rid of the stink.

Thankfully, it’s pretty rare to find a rat in your toilet. It’s more likely in larger cities with big sewer systems that can be feeding grounds for rats, but even then, you still shouldn’t fret. 

“I wouldn’t worry too much about rats coming up through the sewers,” Bradshaw says. “I’d say only one out of a thousand rodent customers we get actually have this problem. And of the 20 or some customers that have had this happen, they’ve all only had just one rat come up this way.”

If your drain doesn’t have metal crosshairs or crossbars, you should use a tub drain extractor. These tools create a grip on the drain so you can turn it using a 1/2-inch ratchet drive, drain key, or wrench. Your drain may not have crosshairs if it's old and broken.
