There was water under my sink the second day after he left. He didn’t put the clamps on the pipes. It cost me $238 to straighten up what he did in my sink and dishwasher, and someone else to fix what he did for $650 to the cabinets and walls. My contract says $10,000 for 2 weeks’ work. Well they didn’t come the first day because someone else had a leaky roof, they left at 3 the second day, and the next day at 3, they only stayed a half day on Thursday and pulled his crew out because he said they were needed on another job. They left raw wood where they sawed wood. I had an island built and they didn’t put a cover over the seam of them and wanted a backing board and they wouldn’t do that and he wouldn’t stain the cabinets. I feel he really took advantage of me. He left the cupboard shelves clear in the back which I can’t reach. I had to hire someone else to put another board in front of it so I could actually reach it. I called and complained so many times, and the last time I called, his wife said it was the first time I had called. I told her I called every 2 or 3 days, and she said it must have been one of the kids pretending to be her. Two of his workers quit on him after this project because they said what he did to me wasn’t right. The Justice of the Peace agreed that they owe me about 18 hours of work, because Mr. Anderson said I just don’t understand contracts when I brought this to his attention that he missed an entire day and left early several days. He should have been working 40 hours per week. The Justice of the Peace said I have a good claim to take him to small claims court. I don’t want anyone else to be taken advantage of like I was."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/college-station/the-anderson%27s-family-remodeling-and-construction-reviews-6207187.htm"},"position":4},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"MARIOTT HOMES INC","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"TX","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Janice E."},"reviewBody":"This was (is) the remodel from h***. A few things went right (see reviews for Allen Drywall, Forster Tile, Wilson Plumbing, Acme Glass and the Kitchen and Bath Showplace). A lot more went wrong. Some are listed under the review for Brazos Valley Floor and Design, TAP Electric and Wager Glass. The focus of this review is the disastrous painting done by the Mariott remodel paint crew led by Carlos. Some examples of problems include: (1) removing and taking away doors to paint and then rehanging them without painting; (2) using the wrong type of paint on walls when we asked to match the same paint from the previous job by Mariott; (3) getting painted doors dirty with grit when taken off site for painting; (4) painting over door hardware or losing hardware when it was removed; (5) not prepping kitchen walls and counters correctly before painting. We had quite a time removing splattered varnish from our granite counter tops. The major problem though was the attempt to match the kitchen and laundry room cabinet finish to the one done by the Mariott group (with a different supervisor and different paint crew) a couple of years earlier on upstairs cabinets, which had the same original finish as those downstairs. The job was so botched that we had to have all new cabinet doors made and finished, along with removing the built up layers put on done by the Mariott crew on the existing cabinet structure. This took almost nine months to complete given repeated problems in trying to straighten it out. Essentially all of the problems that we encountered could be traced to the total lack of supervision by the Mariott lead on the project, Coulter Mariott. He rarely came by and when he did it was to haul off trash or just chat. We had to find all of the problems that came up. Unfortunately, we were told to leave the house for a couple of days when the cabinets were being refinished. The damage was already done to them when we returned. Had we been home, we probably could have avoided that disaster. But is that not what the person in charge of the project is supposed to do? We signed the contract for our work on February 23, 2013 and I am sad to say that it is not actually done, but we are done with Mariott. A cabinet door that was hung and rehung repeatedly to fix paint issues just fell off on August 19, 2014. I can't trust them to fix it correctly, so for now the door is resting on the floor. We planned to have the work completed during the summer of 2013 so the planning started in February. Unfortunately, no one at Mariott seems to understand planning so that nothing was ready to go at the start of June 2013. As of mid-August 2014, we will be looking for someone competent to finish up the odds and ends. Hindsight is 20/20, but if you are reading this, I wish we had been our own general contractor and used Angie?s list to find reputable sub-contractors who will do things right the first time. Perhaps other general contractors care about the quality of their work, but we did not see that in the Mariott Group.

Mr. and Mrs. Pitman of Pitman Custom Homes have proven to be so far superior to our previous experience that we are compelled to speak on their behalf. Mr. Pitman is a skilled, sincere individual who puts the needs and concerns of his clients ahead of everything else. He uses quality materials and holds all of his contractors to high standards. His prices are consistent with current market prices if not slightly better. There was never once a disagreement over the quality of work or misunderstanding over the work that was to be done. Mr. Pitman keeps impeccable records and documents all changes in writing. An interior decorator was made available; though we chose not to use this service, we appreciated the thoughtful offer. Mrs. Pitman was always available to meet with us to assist in making selections; she was on time, well organized, knowledgeable, and we thoroughly enjoyed working with her. The suppliers they chose for us were equally knowledgeable and friendly; when we couldn?t find what we wanted, Pitman Custom Homes found other suppliers. Both Mr. and Mrs. Pitman are careful not to overwhelm or stress their clients; they allow homeowners ample time to carefully consider options. They were both easily reached by phone or email; we normally received a response within a day and we were advised ahead of time if they were going out of town. Pitman Custom Homes promised to stand by their work and warranties; we were doubtful though neighbors assured us that Mr. Pitman remains responsive and cooperative even after the sale is completed. Since moving into our new home two months ago, we are happy to say that all of our concerns and problems have been addressed in a timely manner. Moreover, there were issues Pitman Custom Homes could have easily dodged responsibility for?they were not his mistakes. Pitman Custom Homes went above and beyond their obligations and it cost us nothing. It is refreshing to discover such an honorable, reliable businessman! In short, we could not be more pleased with our Pitman Home or our experience in working with this company! We thank Mr. and Mrs. Pitman for making our building experience so pleasurable. We are confident we will enjoy our new home for many years to come as well as the friendship we have with them. We are delighted to give Pitman Custom Homes the highest possible recommendation!

Painting they did was good. However, they work slow so they didn't get everything painted they said they would and it still took an extra day and so he charged for more time. They took off switch plates and then didn't screw them back on behind the furniture. They also didn't plug my phone...

Met with Robyn to discuss modifications we could make to our home with interior decorating. The bottom line was - go to the second hand furniture store and Pottery Barn. Just not useful information for what I was looking for.

FAQs for cabinet making projects in College Station, TX
Custom cabinets are worth the investment to transform the look of your kitchen with a design, color scheme, and aesthetic that’s unique to your home. If you’re looking for cabinets that reflect your personality but are more cost-effective, semi-custom cabinets are a great alternative that allows you to showcase your style, but with pre-made cabinets instead of fully custom. Custom cabinets also provide a 70 to 80 percent return on investment, making them a worthwhile purchase.
There are a few key differences between custom and semi-custom cabinets. While custom cabinets offer complete customization, semi-custom cabinets are less personalized, offering fewer paint color, finish, and hardware choices. In addition, custom cabinets typically take longer to install due to the build time, whereas semi-custom cabinets are prefabricated and therefore faster to install.
If you're looking for ways to save money on custom cabinets, there are a few ways to cut costs without sacrificing beauty. For starters, comparing door styles to choose the most cost-effective option is a great way to save money on the overall project.
In addition, choosing a common wood species versus an exotic one will lower the price. Woods like oak and hickory are often more affordable wood choices, and the same goes for knobs, pulls, and other finishes where picking a commonly available style can reduce costs.
Custom cabinets cost between $500 and $1,200 per linear foot on average to install. Factors like materials, size, and type of cabinet doors you choose significantly affect the overall cost.
For example, a basic slab cabinet door can cost $60 to $70 for materials alone. As its name suggests, this material is a piece of wood with no unique features. However, a mullioned glass inset panel door, which features a designed glass panel, ranges from $100 to $200 for materials per cabinet door.
Like most special-order items, custom cabinets have several pros and cons to consider when buying new cabinets. Custom cabinets are typically more expensive than prefabricated cabinet options, but the work often reflects the quality. Custom cabinets tend to last 20 or more years, but the time it takes to install them is typically longer than other cabinets—roughly 6 to 8 weeks on average from the time of ordering. However, a major benefit is the ability to personalize every aspect of your cabinetry, from cabinet hardware to custom paint colors.
