"I dreaded contacting anyone to look at my garage roof. I was certain that all kinds of issue would be found and that the repair would be beyond my financial reach. To my surprise, the process was painless, the price was reasonable, and the job was completed on time, as promised. Thomas himself came on the next day to make certain the his crew had done clean up around the job (they had). It was a pleasure to work with such a considerate and pleasant professional. i recommend Thomas and Shield Contracting to anyone look for a new roof or roof repair."

"Barrett Blow, Mike Reeves and Silver Oaks Residential Services delivered roofing repair and installation services with high tier professionalism and proficiency. Their roofing crew arrived right on time this morning. These men were so well-mannered, very professional, courteous while they delivered expert service in a confounding rain leak on our roof; the latter which was installed, three years ago, by a different roofing company.
Silver Oaks roofing crew determined the origin of the leak and quickly and efficiently corrected the matter by:
- removing impacted shingles
- removing mold-impacted decking
- provided top-quality moisture barrier
- PERFECTLY matched and perfectly installed the new shingles to the three year old shingles; the latter a feat in and of itself, says me
Barrett and I met two days prior to the install. In between the time Barrett and I met, I contacted him and asked if his roofing crew could install the three skylights. Ever since I bought this property five years ago, I have dreamed of installing skylights in three particular places in order to bring natural light into some rather dark areas in our home. My dream came true today thanks to Barrett & Co. The spectacular results of the installation of these three skylights have transformed these formerly dark areas instantly. Once I figure out how to upload photos of the work product, you will see the quality of their work product.
My husband was properly concerned about "cutting holes" in the roof for a skylight. But when he went outside to see the professional and sound installation of the skylights, his whole opinion about skylights changed for the better! And rightly so. He's just as impressed as I am with the professional installation, the obvious care demonstrated in their install and, moreover, the positive transformation that these roofing installations and corrections have made to the house! It just feels better in here now!!
I highly recommend Silver Oaks; in fact, so much so, that we are now on Silver Oaks exterior painting schedule for our 3100 square foot home, our 2400 square foot stable and our 1200 square foot metal garage.
I am a home remodel veteran for other properties we own, have built new construction buildings time and again while owning a lot of experience in managing land development projects for our other properties we have owned and sold. I know excellent crews when I meet them and I have been saddled with the task of firing crews for unprofessional delivery of goods and services. You will do yourself a favor on the project management of engaging with Silver Oaks for its fair and equitable price point and high echelon construction service.
These men were good men to have in my home. They cleaned up after every service was finished; each crew member, I noticed, performed individual walk-throughs prior to leaving and the level of communication between one another and Barrett was professional, effective and congenial.
Excellent customer relationship management. Fair market value for the goods and services delivered.
My theory is this: A company is only as good as its leader. Silver Oaks is a good company because of its owners.

"DAV is a professional, very efficient roofer and we are SO glad we were referred to them by neighbors who were all equally surprised at the wonderful, easy way they roof job went. They helped us all the way through and even drove by a house that I loved the roof of and identified the roof so I got that gorgeous Georgetown Gray !! Our gutters are now a beautiful copper finish and that didn’t cost much more than the boring colors. The people are honest, go the extra mile and are so friendly. The owner is a truly nice man and knows quality materials and techniques and that is why he is successful. 10 plus out of 10!! So proud of how my house looks now!!! All 4 surrounding neighbors used them, because they saw how painless and quick it was and how beautiful it looked."

"We had gotten five inches of rain in one day and that started the whole trip. First we found a minor drip in the attic, just because my wife was up there getting some decorations down. Later the same day we spotted a wet spot in the front room and that's when I went to Angie's List. I ultimately called Woodlands Roofing & Exteriors.
Mr. Blante Evans showed up after we called and gave us an estimate of about $250.00 and put us on the schedule. About a week later a three man, two truck crew showed up, scouted the roof and proceeded to use roofing caulk to seal around all the vents and other protrusions through the roof and removed the satellite receiver left by the previous owner and repaired those points too.
Yesterday, 11/23/13, the rain started again, once more we have received almost five inches in 48 hours. NO LEAKS this time so Woodlands Roofing did the job and Mr.Evans the elder, the estimator, and Mr. Evans the younger, I assume is a relative, ramrodded
the fix. They all did a good job, the fix did its job and we're very happy. Will have no problem calling them again if the need arises.

In most cases, installing skylights will add to the value of your home, as buyers tend to like the appearance of these windows and prefer houses that let in natural light. However, savvy home buyers who know there are water damage risks with improperly installed skylights will want information on who installed the feature and when. If you can point to a professional skylight installer with experience, then the skylight is more likely to provide a better return on investment.
While it’s possible to install a skylight yourself, we don’t recommend it. DIY window installations are far more likely to leak due to improper placement technique. Making even minor mistakes could lead to thousands of dollars in water damage, meaning hiring a local skylight installer from the start would be more affordable. Plus, working on the roof is dangerous, as is maneuvering heavy, bulky windows up and into place. Even if you’re an experienced DIYer, we strongly recommend hiring a pro to install a skylight.
Skylights are the most likely windows to leak if installed improperly, so there are a few questions you should ask any skylight installer before you hire them:
Do you specialize in skylight installation or only windows in general?
Do you offer any kind of warranty for the installation?
What recourse do I have if the skylight leaks shortly after installation?
Do you have references I can speak with?
How long have you been in business?
Are you licensed and insured?
The average cost to install a skylight is about $1,850, and most homeowners pay between $450 to $5,000 each. Your total price tag will depend on many factors, including the type of roof material, the pitch of your roof, ease of accessibility, the skylight size, and the type of frame and glass you want. You can potentially lower your price if you install multiple windows or skylights simultaneously. Remember to budget $500 to $2,500 for labor costs to complete this project.
Skylights might sometimes increase your homeowners insurance premium, but the increase is usually minimal. Some home insurance companies won’t adjust your premium with the addition of a skylight, so you can contact your insurer or your professional skylight installer to ask about any expected changes. It’s crucial to have an expert install the skylight, as insurance companies may not insure your roof or cover water damage that results from a non-professional skylight installation.
