"Elite Creations was very professional and handled everything we needed honestly. They fixed our landscape lighting and handled some electrical issues. They have followed up several times to make sure everything was working. I’d definitely hire them again."

"Xavier diagnosed the situation and determined the trouble was the outdated main disconnect had a broken contact. He coordinated with CPS, the electricity supplier, and the company?s installer to remedy the problem quickly. He took time with me to explain everything and gave me a price quote in advance. He had been recommended to me by an elder in my church who had used him and said their price quote was a thousand dollars less than the other quote he got. Xavier is a great guy and now I consider him one of my friends. He is a honest old school electrician that believes in treating the customers with concern and care. I very seldom give reviews but this time I will rate their service as excellent."

"David arrived as planned. He lacked one of the drill bits needed for the job so it took him longer than he and we had planned. We/he were able to borrow a bit from one of the community members. The residents are very pleased with the light/light install."

Lighting FAQs, answered by experts

The average cost to install outdoor or landscape lighting is around $4,000, with most projects ranging from $2,000 to $6,000. The total cost can vary widely depending on several factors, including the number of fixtures, design complexity, and the type and quality of the lights used, such as wall sconces, pathway lights, or lamp posts. Other factors that influence the price are the square footage of the area being lit, the amount of electrical work needed, any required excavation or trenching, and local permitting costs. For specific types, you might pay around $100 for pathway or string lighting and up to $700 for lamp post lighting.

You can take a few steps to prolong the life of your holiday lights. Make sure to replace burnt-out bulbs as quickly as possible to avoid overloading the rest of the circuit and knocking out more lights. Before packing them up each year, plug each strand into the wall to confirm everything is still working. Wrap the lights carefully back into their original packaging or something similar—winding a strand tightly together or leaving it to hang loose in a storage bin can lead to frayed or damaged wiring.

Replacing a pool light costs about $625 per light. If you only need to replace the light bulb, plan on paying about $20 to $100 per light. The largest cost factors include the type of pool light, the number of pool lights needed, and the labor costs in your location. But additional cost factors include work required on existing wiring, other repairs, and the continual maintenance needed to keep your pool light in good working condition after installation.

No, you should not leave LED Christmas lights up all year. While the LED lights themselves are very durable, their wiring and casings can be as vulnerable as any Christmas lights. They’re subject to drying out, experiencing cold or sun damage that causes them to crack, and even damage caused by gnawing pests. (The same is true of incandescents.) If you want your lights to last the years that they’re rated for, bring them inside after Christmas is over.

Before investing in motion sensor lights, there are a couple of disadvantages worth noting. For starters, they’re not as reliable as other forms of lighting. Motion sensor lights can be accidentally triggered by pets or wind, which can become a nuisance after a while. The opposite situation can occur, too, where they don’t turn on when you need them to.
