"Outstanding Service and Incredible Workmanship! I can't say enough good things about H&M Services! Hector and his crew went above and beyond to help me after a storm left my livestock without a fence. While other companies ignored my calls or acted like my situation wasn’t important, Hector made me feel heard and valued from the very start. Even with their packed schedule, they worked me in and got the job done quickly, saving my animals’ freedom and my peace of mind. The team arrived early, worked tirelessly without taking breaks, and didn’t leave until the job was complete. Their dedication, professionalism, and hard work were truly impressive. Every single person was polite, respectful, and focused on getting the job done right. Hector took the time to answer all my questions, big or small, and made sure I was completely satisfied. If you're looking for a fence company that genuinely cares about their customers and delivers top-quality work, look no further. Highly recommended!"

I've lived in Dallas for only a little while, but it already feels like home, I started this company because I wanted to be my own boss and build my own future. I am easygoing, I like to have fun with the process!. I most want my customers to know I always put myself in my customers shoes, treat their home like my own.

"He (Tom) was phenomenal, Tom was responsible, took his time during the work. No shortcuts, absolute perfectionist and he could have charged me a lot more than. Make sure the work is clean, even though I would be able to see it. He was definitely definitely a wonderful person. the project took a lot longer but he took no shortcuts. I paid him enough for the time and effort, he was honest and excellent, very reliable. Outstanding."

"Charles Means provided me with a very competitive proposal for the painting I needed in my home, and I decided to go with his company.  Larry Means and his crew arrived on time.  It took a couple of days of prep and painting and the crew cleaned up at the end of each day.  It was a pleasure to work with this team.  They are very professional with high standards and want to make sure that everything is perfectly done and to my satisfaction.  Larry even nailed a beam in my den that was loose.  They go above and beyond to ensure the customer is pleased.  I would certainly recommend Means Paintings and will use them again in the future when I need other painting done.

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can build a deck around a fire pit, as long as it is safely enclosed, meets code requirements, and is at least 15 feet away from your home. You’ll want to ensure you have a heat-resistant barrier between the fire pit and your deck to prevent any structural damage and fires. A galvanized ring surrounded by pavers, brick, or stone makes for a beautiful, safe, and sturdy design.

It’s important to make sure the wood on a new deck is properly seasoned. Seasoning a deck is simple: Once you build it (or have a pro do so), just leave it alone so it can acclimate to the environment. If you don’t give the deck proper seasoning time before staining, the stain can lock in any lingering moisture and cause mold, rot, and other moisture issues down the road. Give the wood at least four to eight weeks to season before you stain.

Yes, snow should be removed from a deck to protect it from damage caused by moisture and heavy loads. Shovel the snow off of your deck regularly once it is more than four inches deep. Avoid using salt, which can damage your deck.

The overhang, or nosing, of deck steps is another area that will be covered in building code requirements. The noses on your deck steps should have a minimum overhang of ¾ inch. For safety, usability, and code compliance, the nosing of deck steps should not extend past 1¼ inches.

No. In most cases, it’s not colder or freezing temperatures that affect decking materials but the amount of moisture that seeps into the materials as a result. For example, wood decking material is more likely to suffer from rot or decay when exposed to excess moisture from snow or ice. An extreme change in temperature can cause wood to expand or contract, but only if it’s not properly treated beforehand.
