I retired from the army in August 2000, and started this company right away. I currently have one additional person working for me. My son Daniel He is really good working with small engines. We both enjoy are work. My fees are as follows: I charge $30.00 for the trip charge, more if you are over 20 miles from my shop . the trip charge is a one time fee to help with gas it and last until the job is completed. for most walk behind mowers I charge $35.00 for labor, Most riders non commercial $45.00, zero turns non commercial $55.00, weed eaters and chain saws $30.00 generators and pressure washers (motors only) $35.00. I accept cash and checks as payment. I offer senior and disabled citizens a %5 discount on labor only. most commercial mowers are $65.00 this does not include any parts.

"Initially well, building a personal relationship and after that BAD. Never checked the tire pressure. After experiencing an oil leak, the "wife' said they would try and come to my house and if not they would call. They NEVER called. I texted the next morning and left a voicemail. NO response"

Lawn Tool Repair questions, answered by experts

If you are a skilled DIYer with experience, you can do certain lawn mower repairs yourself. However, if you’ve never worked on a lawn mower before or if your mower needs extensive repairs, it’s best to let a skilled lawn mower technician work on your machine. While it might be a little more expensive due to the cost of labor, nothing beats knowing that the job was done successfully (and often with warranties).

Replacing a lawn mower pull cord yourself should only cost you the supplies, which comes to around $25. For more complex repairs, you’ll need to get a quote from a local lawn mower repair shop.

Before your lawn mower quits working entirely, it’ll likely give you some signs of wear and tear that indicate a repair is needed. Signs that you might need repairs to your lawn mower include:

  • Oil leaks

  • Vibrating engine

  • Smoking exhaust

  • Increase in time to mow

  • Unusual noises

  • Increase in gas consumption

Lawnmowers require seasonal maintenance to continue working correctly. With routine maintenance, you can extend its life to the fullest, which is around 10 years for push mowers and 5-8 years for riding mowers. To keep your lawn mower working correctly, you’ll want to take the following steps at least once a year:

  • Replace the spark plug

  • Change the oil

  • Drain the fuel tank

  • Clean the mowing deck (ideally, after every mow)

  • Replace the air filter

  • Check the carburetor

  • Sharpen the blades

  • Fog the engine

  • Check the tires

Most repairs take 1-3 days, but complex issues may require ordering replacement parts, extending the timeline.
