"I was very pleased with the job that the Company did. They installed insulation in my attic. Did exactly what they said they would do and completed the job when they said they would. Could not have asked for more."

"The job was performed in a very professional manner. The installers were very professional. We have more work that needs to be done on our house. We are contracting Home Advisor to do the work. I am very impressed with the work performed by this contractor."

"They provided a written estimate in advance. They showed up on time. They were courteous, energetic, pleasant people to do business with. They knew what they were doing. They were clean. Did clean work. Cleaned up after they finished. Careful not to damage anything in the house. Were careful not to damage the lawn with their truck."

"We would recommend On the Spot. They removed all insulation in attic and basement and replaced it with the appropriate insulation for the house. They covered floors, had a dumpster and left no mess."

Small jobs welcome

"Reeds reinsulated our attic of 70 years. The former insulation had settled well below the rafters. The work crew vacuumed out the old, sealed around all openings to lights, fans, etc and then blew brand new fiberglass insulation to knee depth. We now have lofty, R-40 rated protection in a 2600 sq' house that heats evenly through out. Reeds will return to encapsulate our crawl space in one month!"

"When I had originally contacted Bia Insulation I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and easy the process was to set up my appointment with them. Once everything logistically was taken care of, insulation install process came and went in a swift manner. I was highly impressed with not only how professional but personable Jeremy was. He was my go to guy from start to finish and that meant a lot to me. Having the one point of contact throughout the whole process was breathe of fresh air. As far as savings go, my wallet and my wife are VERY happy. We noticed savings on our bill within the first couple of months."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can install insulation behind drywall yourself, but only if your walls are not finished. If your studs are exposed, installing fiberglass insulation in roll or batt form is very straightforward and just requires a few tools and some safety equipment. If your walls are already finished and you’re looking to add insulation, it’s better to hire a professional, as you’ll likely need blown-in insulation, which can be dangerous to work with and a challenge to get into the proper areas in your wall voids.

The cost to install or upgrade insulation generally ranges from $1.50 to $4.00 per square foot. The final price depends on factors such as the type of insulation chosen, the total area to be covered (home size), and local labor costs.

DIY insulation installation is feasible, particularly for basic rolls or batts, if you have the right protective gear and knowledge. However, hiring a professional ensures even, full coverage for maximum efficiency.

An insulated garage benefits from roof vents to ensure proper ventilation and prevent moisture buildup. Insulation can trap moisture in the garage, especially during temperature fluctuations, and roof vents play a crucial role in expelling the moisture in the air. Including roof vents promotes air circulation, preventing condensation and enhancing overall air quality.

For a DIY solution to protect an outdoor faucet from freezing, you can craft a cover using spare rags, a durable plastic bag, and duct tape. However, be aware that this method may not be as effective as a store-bought cover. Fabric like rags or old towels can absorb water, which could freeze and cause problems. While a DIY cover can work as a temporary stopgap, a proper outdoor faucet cover is inexpensive (often $5 or less), easy to install, and readily available, making it the recommended long-term solution.
