"Jeremy was great to work with. We had a general idea of what we wanted to do but we not sure of how best to make it all come together. Jeremy listened to what we wanted and suggested a great solution. The final project ended up being far better than I expected."

"I had my kitchen and bathroom remodeled last year. Danny was incredibly knowledgeable and helped me in deciding what we needed done in order to bring my vision to life. The members of his crew were very respectful and professional. They got the project done in a timely manner. I was especially impressed with the bathroom as the crew basically pulled off a miracle as the space was so small. These spaces look exactly as I pictured they would when I decided to remodel them. I am overcome with joy. I will most definitely be using this company for my next project and would recommend Music City Maintenance and Services to anyone looking to make changes to their home!"

"

I had tile flooring installed last year in my kitchen and noticed how the grout was cracking throughout the kitchen. I called South Gate Home Improvements for an estimate to replace the tile. With a very reasonable estimate I had them to install the new tile.

Prior to him installing my new tile he showed me how the previous contractor did not screw down the backer board but used roofing nails instead which was the reason for my grout cracking. He spent the time correcting the deficiency and installed the new tile. The design I chose called for some precise cuts with the tile. Mr. Perabeau took his time and now I have beautiful solid tile flooring. I highly recommend him for all your remodeling needs."

"Amanda was really very good!  At first I was very skeptical, thinking why did I pay money to just speak with someone on the phone about my kitchen remodel project... but after just a few minutes of her addressing some of the issues/questions I emailed to her earlier, I knew it was worth it.  It was very clear that she knew her business and she gave me several ideas that I had not even thought about.  I told her that I would definitely recommend her to friends and I will very likely use her again myself for my next home project!

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Save money on your basement finishing project by making cost-effective decisions such as minimizing structural changes and avoiding costly construction revisions. DIY simpler tasks such as painting or basic cleanup to reduce labor costs. You can also opt for energy-efficient fixtures and materials that may qualify for rebates or tax incentives.

Finishing a basement can provide a great return on investment, by increasing the market price of your home when you want to sell. Beyond that, there are many reasons to finish your basement. Doing so expands the usable square footage of your home, so you can enjoy it more, even as your family grows. Renovating your basement costs less in terms of time, energy, and money than having to search for and buy a new home.

Unless you have extensive experience in construction work, remodeling a basement is best left to a professional. There are several tasks associated with this project that require exact precision, including:

  • Replacing insulation

  • Replacing carpet or other flooring

  • Adding heating and cooling

  • Adjusting or adding walls and doors

  • Altering or adding plumbing elements

If any of these elements is done incorrectly, it could severely impact the quality of your basement remodel and be dangerous. Changing a basement often comes with code safety requirements, like egress windows and proper ventilation. Therefore, leaving it up to a professional is often the best decision.

Yes, you can add a bathroom to an unfinished basement, but you’ll want to take proper precautions if doing so. As with any bathroom addition, you’ll need to make sure that it’s approved by local building authorities first. With unfinished basements, you especially need to keep an eye on proper ventilation practices.

Yes, you can add a door to your basement—it might even be required, depending on building codes in your area and whether or not you’re using the basement as a bedroom. A basement contractor can give you some advice on installation and help you add a door to your basement.
