We currently have eight employees and cover a work area that spans the majority of TN and AL. The cost to convert a wood fireplace to gas ranges from $500 to $5,500 on average, with most people paying $3,000 for a conversion. Both wood and gas fireplaces have pros and cons—gas fireplaces are easier to clean and maintain, while fires in wood-burning fireplaces are especially warm and cozy.

While some building codes allow galvanized pipe for natural gas, it shouldn’t be used for propane. Propane can cause the pipe to wear down, leading to dangerous leaks. Instead of galvanized piping for propane, you should consider coated copper, black iron, or corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST). For underground propane line installation, you can use polyethylene (PE).

All U.S. states require permits for gas grill installation, so you’ll have to get one before you move forward with your project. Permits help ensure that the gas line runs safely to avoid gas leaks and explosions. Gas line permits can usually also only be pulled by certified plumbers, which means you’ll have to hire a professional from the start. The permit for a gas line installation for a gas grill usually costs between $100 and $300. You can contact your installation company or building department for more accurate pricing.

A few factors determine the amount of time it takes to convert from an oil to a gas furnace, mainly adding in the gas lines, updating your appliances, removing the old oil system, and installing a chimney line. These projects can vary, but you should expect them to take at least two or three days to complete.

It’s possible to convert an electric dryer to a gas dryer, but it’s not practical or cost-effective. A pro would need to remove specific components from your electric unit and install parts unique to gas dryers. Rather than going through this time-consuming process, you can remove your old electric dryer and have a pro install a new gas dryer.
