Can’t edge a straight line & left dripmarkes in the walls. He painted my home & I had to have it repainted!!!!! Learn from my expense mistake. You’ll often have picture-perfect results by painting over the old color. However, if you’re transitioning from a dark wall color to a light one, you’ll want to use a primer first to save yourself from applying multiple coats for coverage. Spraying and brushing both can lead to beautiful, evenly painted window shutters. Spraying is faster and easier, but it brings in an added cost, as paint sprayers are around $100 to buy or $40 per day to rent. If price is a determining factor, you can use a brush and rest assured that the results will be good nonetheless.

Newer paint cans often come with an “easy pour” spout with a twist lid. These can be tricky to open, but the key is to grip the spout cover with your fingers and twist it counter-clockwise. There should be a raised ridge in the middle to make it easy to grab. For more standard twist lids, you can try prying the lid off by turning it with your hands, as you would a jar, or running it under warm water.

Generally, any type of house paint, such as latex, acrylic, or mineral paint, will work for whitewashing. Paints with a matte or semi-gloss finish work best. If you have leftover white paint from another project, whitewashing can be a great way to use up paint that might have otherwise gone to waste. 

Both paint and wallpaper can work in a bathroom, provided you choose high-quality products in either category. Washable vinyl wallpapers can stand up to bathroom humidity without peeling, as can semi-gloss or gloss paint finishes. However, if you’re someone who likes to redecorate often, paint may make it easier to change colors or designs more quickly. If you want full humidity protection and cleanability, tile or stone works better.
