"* Called Martin and scheduled an appt. for him to look at my property. I needed to wait about a week...which I was fine with. * Day of appt., he did not show. I called and he apologized for missing the appointment due to being stuck on a previous job (understandable)...so he reschedules with me for the next day. (I cordially agree) * Next day's appointment...again he did not show. I called and left a message on Martin's voicemail. He never called back. * I made several attempts to call again, but the calls never go through. * I can only assume that Martin has decided that the work I need is not worth his time...and I have wasted a week of my time with a man and his company who show little courtesy and low character towards a prospective client by not communicating with them. * I would have been fine if he had just told me he wasn't interested in looking at my property instead of stringing me along for over a week...only to end up ghosting me. Â"

With sheer will the team of Nick, Elizabeth, and Isaiah faced a number of of life’s challenges from flat tires, trucks that had maintenance issues, a car fire, and more. Yet never did they waver, give up or change what was agreed to. My wife said “this company is so honest, trustworthy, and just real people trying to make a honest living.” We were lucky to get to know them. A great company. In most cases, it’s better to remove rocks before adding mulch. Layering the two will restrict drainage and plant health, and can create an unpleasant texture underfoot.

The best soil to put around a house foundation is fill dirt, which is soil that’s specifically designed for covering large areas and filling in holes. Don’t waste money regrading around your foundation with expensive topsoil. Use topsoil only for the last layer of soil, about 5 to 10 inches, so that when you do your foundation planting, your grass and plants will have the nutrients they need to grow.

Pea gravel consists of many small, rounded stones that, unsurprisingly, kind of resemble peas. They range in size from 1/8 to 3/8 of an inch. Higher-end products might be a little more uniform and have fewer jagged rocks in the mix.

The best time to lay mulch depends on the type of mulch and the reason for installing it: 

  • Summer: Adding extra mulch helps soil retain moisture and keeps weeds at bay, allowing plants to thrive. 

  • Fall: Adding mulch helps control weeds and keeps soil and roots warm during the cooler months. Aim to add a layer of mulch 2 to 4 inches deep.

  • Winter: Mulch around perennial plants to help keep them insulated.

  • Spring: Wait until the ground has thawed. Depending on the thickness, add between 1 and 4 inches of mulch to provide freeze and rain protection and enrich the soil.

Mulch costs anywhere from $30 to $150 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. On the inexpensive end, red and black mulch are about $35 to $40 per cubic yard, and are typically made from recycled waste wood like shredded old pallets or deck material.
