"Painted our 2 story home and did an excellent job. Went out of there way to stop at our shed builders to get a paint sample from our sheds to match our home. It matched perfectly. They were professional and arrived each day on time. Very happy with their service and will definitely use them again."

"If you are looking for a experienced, EXTREMELY detail oriented painter Bryan is your man! We hired him to paint our deck (correct a previously done terrible stain job) and he did an amazing job. We were so happy with his work we hired him to do our bonus room. This room had mostly been a kids playroom for years and the walls were DESTROYED chipped/dented in at least 50 spots a couple significant holes in ceiling and door…it was so bad. Bryan literally fixed every single blemish and made it look BRAND NEW! On top of his excellent work his prices are very fair and he very neat and cleans up like he was never there! ??"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.

It's okay to walk on a newly painted deck after about four to six hours as long as the weather has been dry. Be sure to wait at least 24 hours before you place any outdoor furniture or grills on a freshly painted deck, though.

A wood deck requires annual cleaning and regular inspections for loose or broken boards, nails, and screws. It should be refinished by applying a stain or sealer every two to three years to protect the wood from water damage, rot, mildew, and sun fading. The exact frequency can depend on the climate and the deck's exposure to sun and moisture. If your deck is painted, it will need repainting approximately every 10 years. Signs that your deck needs refinishing include faded, splintering, or warping boards.

Stain is meant to be absorbed by the porous wood, allowing some of the natural grain to show through. With that in mind, you don’t want to add more stain than the wood can absorb, as you risk covering up its natural markings. Generally, two coats is the maximum you should do, although very dense hardwoods may only be able to take a single coat.

The number of coats you need to apply when whitewashing a surface depends on how opaque you want the final product to be. If you're going for a transparent, barely there look, a single coat or two may suffice. For fuller coverage, you'll want to use multiple coats. Another option is to use a less diluted paint to get a thicker coverage.
