We currently have eight employees and cover a work area that spans the majority of TN and AL. "I was told that charges would begin when they left their shop and would end at the completion of the job. Sadly, I was charged for a trip to and from, neither of which was in the proposal. In speaking to other electrical companies as well as my own 45 years of experience as a home improvement contractor, installing a couple of bath exhaust fans is clearly a one man job, and should've cost around $350 - $400 total. However I found upon their arrival that the company policy is to send 2 men per job whatever the job. I provided a ladder for easy access to the hugely open attic and then proceeded to observe the next 3 hours one man doing 95% of the work as the other basically watched. No problem... accept that I was being charged $70 per hour per man and then told by the rude and unreasonable office personnel, Victor, that he was informed by the techs that I probably would be unhappy with the high charges. Being charged a $280 trip charge as well as $70 per hr. for a "gopher" is pretty excessive. I would never recommend Lloyd's Electric to anyone and am sorry I had to experience using them even once. They did say they enjoyed my wife's fresh German chocolate cake as well as the remainder roll of my "special" tape they took!"

Gas Leak Repair questions, answered by experts

If your home uses more than one gas appliance, you'll continue to use gas, even outside of the heating season. Your water heater, gas stove and oven, and gas dryer will all use some gas, although typically much less than a furnace. Additionally, those appliances may also have a pilot light that is lit continually, using a small amount even when no one is at home.

Installing a gas line is no simple task. From start to finish, you’re looking at anywhere from six to 12 weeks to acquire the correct permits, dig a trench, and connect your appliances. Naturally, the longer the gas line, the longer it will take to complete. If your plumber needs to hire additional contractors to dig trenches and navigate around or remove obstacles, this could put you at the longer end of the timeframe. 

Once the land is prepped and licenses acquired, installing the actual line may only take a few days to a few weeks, weather permitting.

While the line can't be removed, a pro can place a cap on the end to stop leaks. Contact a pro for a service call and speak with them about the related costs of either capping or removing the line altogether. Capping a gas line will cost between $75 and $150 while removing it will start at $250.

The size of a pipe isn’t always the outside or inside diameter. Rather, it’s a nominal diameter that depends on the type of pipe. For male pipes, you’ll need to measure the outside diameter. For female pipes, you’ll need to measure the inside diameter. You’ll then need to use a nominal diameter conversion chart to get the actual pipe size you’d buy in the store.

While you can install a gas dryer yourself, we recommend hiring a pro to help with any work involving gas (safety first!). Keep in mind that your gas dryer will have to meet specific codes and standards. While it will cost more money to work with a professional, it will be money well spent knowing that it’s hooked up correctly.
