"Very professional, knowledgable and accommodating team from Fort Payne, AL. Blown insulation to R44 in over 2000 SF in my attic in Chattanooga. Brad & Wendy went above and beyond to make sure the job was done to my satisfaction. Pricing very competitive as well. Highly recommend this company."

"Since 7/2025 I knew we needed insulation blown into our less than 1300 SF 1973 built home. Got a quote for over $5000, left messages at many more and some didn’t even show up or return my call. On 12/16/2025 I called Angi list and was told someone would be calling me back soon(bet they want!) Well they did and I spoke Nick Martin of Martin Home Solutions and gave me a quote that I was able to pay (We are old!) and he and Jason Farmer came to our home last evening 12/17/2025!!! (Ready To Work!) We were so impressed by Nick’s honesty, open communication and work ethic. We were so very happy to know that we can survive this winter financially with adequate insulation in our attic. Call Angi List today if you are searching for someone for your attic needs, Martins Home Solutions will not disappoint."

"Aaron is great to work with. I hired him originally to blow insulation in my attic then he brought to my attention that the house I just bought has a mouse problem. Lucky for me Aaron is in the process of fixing that issue for me as well. He s been great to deal with and is a very professional and kind person."

"We met with 3 different companies to advise on getting solar panels. The first 2 companies basically just told us what size system we could get based on state and federal tax rebate levels. Heard an advertisement for Sunpro on radio and decided to call them; turned out to be a good decision. Kara with Sunpro was extremely informative and had a nice package put together for us to review. She even researched our home and had an idea of how much production we could expect with the recommended solar panels. Even after selecting Sunpro, I called Kara with questions about things I'd heard from others or something I forgot to ask. I never felt like I was a burden and she always returned my calls if I had to leave a message. The complete team with Sunoro were professional and eager to help. Satisfied with new solar system and looking forward to enjoying savings on electric bills.

Insulation questions, answered by experts

The primary purpose of insulation is to maintain comfortable temperatures in a home, whether that’s cool air when it’s hot out, or warm air in winter, but that’s not all it can do. All options will also minimize heating and cooling needs, lowering both your carbon footprint and energy bills in turn. And some options, like rigid foam boards, even offer soundproofing benefits, too.

Garage door insulation can last anywhere from 20 to 100 years depending on the type of insulation. Cellulose has the shortest lifespan coming in at between 20 and 30 years, while spray foam, mineral wool, and fiberglass can last between 80 and 100 years with proper maintenance.

Humidity plays a role in how long more susceptible insulation materials—like fiberglass—last. Once fiberglass batts reach the 15-year mark, you'll need to routinely inspect your insulation to ensure that it is in mint order.

Single-pane windows might let in the cold, but if you’re not ready for a long-term solution or window replacement, there are quick fixes to keep your space warmer. Start by sealing gaps with weatherstripping or caulking around the frame to block drafts. For an extra barrier, apply window insulation film to the glass, trapping an air pocket between the film and the window. Thick curtains or thermal drapes can also help keep the chill at bay. And if you’re in a pinch and looking to get creative, bubble wrap can provide a surprisingly effective layer of insulation—just spritz the window with water and press it on, bubble side in.

The average U.S. homeowner pays $1,850 to insulate their home. However, the cost of insulation depends on the type, the size of your home, and who does the installation work.

The cost of foam board insulation depends on whether it's made from expanded polystyrene (EPS) or extruded polystyrene (XPS). EPS has the lower price point, usually costing between $0.25 and $0.50 per board foot, while XPS costs between $0.40 and $0.50 per board foot.

Installing insulation helps reduce energy usage, improve home comfort, and lower utility bills by maintaining stable indoor temperatures year-round.
