"ARS switched out a leaking tankless water heater with with the same unit I had in storage. Jason completed the plumbing but then stuck around for a couple of hours to make sure everything was working well. It took a lot of trouble-shooting because of the age of the replacement unit. Thanks Jason!"

"Phew! We don't have mold. The technicians came out to assess what we thought was a potential mold problem. Luckily with the help of their testing our windows, sills, bathrooms, crawlspace no serious issue was found. Turns out condensation buildup and "mold" is sort of normal for an older house with single pane windows. Glad we know that know. Would definitely call Breathe Easy again and recommend to friends/family."

"Invictus electrical has been absolutely incredible. After a couple disappointing experiences with other electricians in the area, we contacted Invictus and will never use anyone else! Dave is quick to reply and provide quotes for projects, and he/his employees are timely, respectful, and excellent at their work. We have shared Invictus as a resource to several of our neighbors and friends given their consistent, high quality work! Would give more than 5 stars if we could!!!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

If your HVAC system's capacity doesn't match the required CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute), imbalances can occur. An undersized system struggles to maintain desired temperatures, leading to discomfort. An oversized system might short-cycle, wasting energy and causing temperature fluctuations. Properly matching capacity to CFM ensures efficient and consistent heating, cooling, and home ventilation system performance.

Running a window air conditioner unit costs about $0.06 to $0.88 per hour. Choosing the correct size air conditioner can help it run more efficiently.

It is normal for the attic to be hotter than the rest of the house in the summer, but only by about 10 or 20 degrees. Attics that aren’t properly insulated or ventilated can reach temperatures of 130 degrees or more which can cause damage to the home’s structure, including the roof, wood framing, and HVAC system.

There are several AC unit problems to troubleshoot, but luckily you can identify them by keeping a close eye on your system. Look out for the following signs that your AC needs repair:

  • Unusual noises during operation

  • AC unit blows warm air

  • AC unit doesn’t come on or turn off with temperature changes

  • Strange odors come through the vents

  • AC unit cycles on and off rapidly

  • Indoor air is more humid or less comfortable than usual

  • AC unit keeps tripping your breaker

  • Fan in the outdoor compressor doesn’t operate when the AC is on

As a general rule, you should have your HVAC system professionally serviced at least once a year, though it's best to follow the manufacturer's specific recommendations. Many experts suggest twice-yearly maintenance: once in the spring for the cooling system and once in the fall for the heating system. This is especially recommended for older units, systems with recurring issues, or heat pumps that provide both heating and cooling. Regular service, which can cost between $100 and $550, keeps the system running efficiently, helps prevent costly future repairs, and saves money on utility bills.
