"Pedro and his crew did a great job. They seemed to be very particular about all the details. Left me with a nice slab of concrete and no mess. Landscaping mulch all put back in place. Their price was reasonable. I would definitely hire them again!"

"TNT tree removal was very friendly and professional. The service was very quick. They cut me a great deal and away the trees and removed the stumps. I like that I came home to a clean removal each day. I would recommend and use them again."

"He was very professional, courteous, we had a toilet overflow and come down through the kitchen ceiling, that he was working on at the time, he got the water shut off and helped on every way he could. He framed a kitchen ceiling and put up sheet rock to replace an old drop ceiling ( gross ) it turned out amazing perfect and affordable. His bid was simple and just focused on the work I needed done and didn t create extra unnecessary work to inflate the bid, which some contractors do. So it was a relief to find someone that wasn t trying to clean me out or take advantage. I would recommend highly and don t enough great things to say about him! - Jessica"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Many asphalt companies have experience with tar and chip paving, but not all. The process is unique enough—and not incredibly common enough—that you may have to look around for a tar and chip specialist. However, speaking with a driveway company is a great place to start, especially if they have experience with multiple materials.

The answer to whether or not you need to get a permit before you start your driveway can vary widely based on local ordinances and the scope of your driveway ideas. In most urban and suburban areas, a permit is needed before building a new driveway to ensure that a homeowner is using safe materials and proper drainage practices while designing and constructing a new driveway. In some rural areas, a homeowner may not be required to apply for a permit. When building a new driveway on your own, always check with your local building department to see if you need to request a permit. When hiring a driveway contractor, verify that the right permits are being used before driveway construction begins.

Gravel is one of the few driveway materials that can handle rain the second it’s installed. Unlike asphalt, which needs days to set, or concrete, which requires weeks to cure, gravel is ready as soon as it’s compacted. It’s naturally permeable, allowing water to drain straight through—with no risk of pooling or surface damage. Gravel driveways are one of the most affordable, at $1 to $3 per square foot, and can also last upward of 100 years.

Costs range from $3 to $7 per square foot, depending on the area size and project scope.

Think of the street as a way to capture all the elements on either side of the road, including the road—a street encompasses the homes or other buildings, the trees, and the road of a given area as defined by the beginning and end of the street on a map. A roadway, however, is the component of the street where cars travel.
