"Pedro and his crew did a great job. They seemed to be very particular about all the details. Left me with a nice slab of concrete and no mess. Landscaping mulch all put back in place. Their price was reasonable. I would definitely hire them again!"

Grew up as a rural, SW Minnesota farm boy. Husband, Dad, Pastor, Coffeehouse Owner, and All-Around Repair Man. Will work hard with character, integrity, and honesty. I'll fix it, clean it, remove it and get out of your way for you to enjoy your day or evening again, with your family, friends, and loved ones.\n\nQuick fixes, stressful messes, and leftover junk and demo work is what I love to help with. Depending on the size of the project, it may take me a few days, but it will all be done with as much excellence as possible.

"I really liked the quick response and customer experience with both owner and workers, but... I wish they would go through more details before work, because I did not think they did all of what was expected from me. Need more fill around concrete work after they were done, Floor level was a question from the start, but they assured that it was correct. Now everything seems way higher than I anticipated, but I can work with it if fill is added. Had a couple of cracks in NEW concrete a couple of days after work completed. They blamed on the hot weather, but my heart sank after all the money spent, to see the cracks! I liked the owner and the workers and wish it would have been a perfect experience, but it was not. I am able to deal with the work imperfections and get my job done so it is NOT a deal breaker. I still recommend this contractor, but be aware that they need to communicate work DESIRED better before work done. I talked with him about a downward grade of the concrete to aide in water flow off the floor, and I do not believe this was done."

Concrete Disposal questions, answered by experts

Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.

The main issue with garbage disposals is clogging. This can mean a clogging of the pipes that expel the food along with water, or a clogging of the mechanical parts themselves. The problem lies in the solution because you can’t easily see clogs if they’re inside the system, and reaching in to dislodge stuck items is a risky proposal. Call a pro and ask what they would do, but if you can’t see the clog easily, and running the unit won’t free it, you need to let a professional handle the fix.

It’s one thing that helps, alongside vinegar and baking soda. Ice acts as an exfoliant, helping to lift off any bits of food stuck on the disposal blades.

Whether it's worth repairing your garbage disposal depends on its age and the specific problem. Generally, if the unit is eight years old or younger, repair is a good option. For minor issues like a bad seal or a simple jam, a repair can be inexpensive, sometimes under $10. However, if the motor is broken (a repair that can cost $150 or more) or the unit is getting old, it's often more cost-effective to replace the entire disposal.

On average, it takes one to four hours for a professional to install a garbage disposal. This includes removing the old unit, taking necessary measurements for positioning, removing and fitting new pipes, and installing the brand-new disposal system. If there are unforeseen issues, such as accessibility concerns, the process takes longer.
