"The computer technician, Tammy, was excellent.  He arrived on time and was very personable.  Our computer is several years old and has been running slow, so he cleaned it up for us.  He tried to show us how to perform some maintenance tasks on our own.
After he was finished, he had to call in to the main Geek Choice number to settle the bill.  When I spoke with the person on the phone from Geek Choice, I was astonished when they told me the bill was for $300, which included 2.5 hours service at $100 per hour and a $50 fee for home visit.  I informed her that I had ordered the first hour through Angie's List for $75 and that the home visit fee was waived.  She retrieved my information and charged me a balance of $135, to include the reduced hourly fee of $90 per hour.  So Angie's List saved me almost $100, which I totally appreciate.
I give the technician high marks but the company, Geek Choice, seems like just another corporation trying to make more money off the consumer than they should.  I'm glad I went through Angie's List.

Stereo and Home Theater Systems questions, answered by experts

Yes, installing a home theater is worth it for the opportunity to create a movie theater-level experience in your own home, especially if you want to upgrade how you entertain guests, watch movies, and play video games. Your budget determines the size and capability of your in-home theater, so the value you derive from the home theater you can install depends on your needs, expectations, and how often you use the space. Consider choosing your home theater features based on the value they’ll bring to users to ensure you invest your project budget wisely.

The room itself, if properly finished, should last the lifetime of the house. But it’s the equipment inside that you’ll need to consider. Generally, take a look at your home theater every four to five years and see if everything is still up to date. If any significant new technologies, formats, or compatibility options have come out since then, think about if it’s worth an upgrade.

Built-in entertainment centers cost an average of $9,000, which includes full-wall shelving, storage, and a TV mount. While most homeowners pay around this price, you can expect to pay between $5,000 and $15,000, with high-end entertainment centers reaching upwards of $30,000. Built-in entertainment centers offer the same kind of shelving as built-in bookshelves, with additional considerations for television and related storage.

Some pieces of home automation technology are DIY-friendly, but these are usually stand-alone pieces of equipment that don’t interact with other components. Plus, you may not be able to monitor them from a centralized mobile application. They’re more affordable and can still be great for automating parts of your home, but for full control over your property from a single app or website for easy monitoring and automation, professional design and installation services is best. Plus, these services typically boost your home value, so you’ll see a great ROI on them over time, even if they cost more upfront.

To determine which size of ceiling speakers is best for your room, consider the room’s size, ceiling height, and how powerful your speakers are. Generally, larger rooms require speakers that are between eight and 10 inches in size. Smaller rooms have less of an area for sound to travel, so speakers that are six to seven inches will be sufficient.
