Customers say: Quality work

"Ben and team did an excellent job. Got our project taken care of in a timely fashion, were very professional, and really good to listen to and answer questions. For what they did at our house I was impressed with how clean the mess was. Really easy to clean up. Would be happy to work with Ben again anytime."

"We needed an outdoor spigot replaced, as the pipe was leaking into our basement whenever we turned on the spigot. He was quick in coming over, did an excellent repair job, and when one of the newly installed pipes proved to be defective, quickly replaced the damaged pipe at his own expense. The cost was less than we expected. We are very satisfied with the work he did, the time spent on the job, and the quick response time. I would highly recommend him."

"I'm so satisfied with Grants Handyman Services. I was on a tight schedule and Grant not only came early and cleaned out our dryer duct and replaced the exterior vent. He caulked around the install. I love the attention to detail. He also was able to clean out our downspouts and gutters and clear the debris on the flat portions of our roof. Grant was also polite professional and respectful while he was working in and round my home. I'll definitely have him come back for other items. Sincerely, Glenn C."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Using less toilet paper is the easiest way to prevent future clogs. Also, avoid flushing sanitary products, thick paper towels, or hair down the toilet. If you’ve been using a brick in the tank to reduce the water used to flush the toilet, take it out immediately. Bricks will eventually fall apart and clog your toilet drain. Keeping your toilet lid closed also helps avoid future clogs.

There are several common signs that your main sewer line may be clogged. Key indicators include multiple fixtures in your home draining slowly, gurgling sounds coming from drains or toilets, and water backing up into showers, sinks, or toilets. You might also notice water backing up from the plumbing system's drain cleanout, water in your basement drain, or unexplained wet patches on your lawn. Foul odors, such as the smell of raw sewage or rotten eggs, are another common symptom. The most reliable way to confirm a main sewer line clog is to hire a professional plumber to perform a camera inspection.

It is safe to flush small amounts of bleach down the toilet. Don’t flush more than ¼ cup of bleach. Instead, consider diluting it and pouring it down the sink drain.

The most common cause of a clogged sump pump is natural debris buildup. As water enters the sump pit, it can carry small pieces of debris that build up over time, or the debris can get caught in the filter. If you forget to cover the pit after cleaning the sump pump and pit, debris can also collect in the pit. Corrosion on the metal discharge pipe can also clog the pump. Additionally, if your pipes freeze, it can prevent water from draining properly and cause a clog.

You can try several easy methods to unclog a drain, one of the easiest and most effective of which is to use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. This will help dislodge and dissolve the clog to move it down the drain pipes. Pour 1/2 cup baking soda into the drain, followed by 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Dump several cups of boiling water (or hot water if you have PVC pipes) into the drain and let sit for up to one hour. Run hot water to clear the drain.
