"Bill and his crew exceeded our expectations. Both our water damaged basement and our failing garage foundation required a change in course and they communicated options and provided excellent and economic solutions. They arrived early and stayed late 6 days a week to work around our weather. They provided extras as we went along and worked through some tough weather conditions. The daily communication was the best. Their prices saved us so much money. Their clean-up left our place in better condition than when they arrived. This company is going places. We will use them for any future needs."

"The whole project went very well. They helped tremendously from start to finish with several ideas & advice. They ran into some unseen problems with the floor repair but were able to work it out & come up with a good solution. We are very pleased with the final results & would highly recommend their work. They were always on time & arrived when they said they would."

"We had a concrete sidewalk, steps and a back porch designed and poured by Dowden Creative Construction. The patio included a hot tub area and we are very pleased with how everything turned out. We are also very happy that we used their design as they incorporated proper slopes and a French drain system. Without that extra planning, we surely would have had drainage problems. There were no problems at all, and our lives are now very pleasant in our beautiful back yard."

Small jobs welcome

"Dereck and his team were timely. They removed two large trees and hauled off the limbs. Next, they tore out a rock driveway and spread that rock on the side of our home as requested. Next, they poured a new, perfectly sloped concrete driveway using a rebar. Again, it was all quite timely and better priced than other bids. Thank You!"

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, many contractors offer warranties for their work. Confirm terms before starting the project.

Due to the nature of basements, some level of waterproofing is necessary to prevent water from seeping in and causing damage. Some definitive signs that your basement needs waterproofing measures or needs existing waterproofing measures need to be updated include:

  • Water in your basement, including damp walls or puddles on the floor

  • Mold spots in your basement

  • Musty smells or odors

  • Warped doors or walls

  • Cracks in walls

  • Insect issues, such as cockroaches and termites

Most people consider a French drain to be one of the most effective solutions for foundation leaks, but it’s not always a standalone solution. French drains will help keep water away from your foundation to reduce the risk of leaking and structural damage from soil expansion, but depending on your foundation type and location, you might need other systems or techniques—like soil gradation and gutter and leader installation—to resolve the underlying problem.

Grinder pumps alone cost $300 on average. The average cost to install a new grinder pump is between $2,000 and $4,000, including the pump and labor. This price can also change based on the exact type of grinder pump you choose, labor costs in your area, and the power system your home currently has.

Not all window wells have a formal drain, but they all require a method for water to flow away from the window. Some wells are connected to an interior or exterior drain tile, which is the most effective solution. Others rely on a deep layer of gravel or crushed stone that allows water to filter down into the soil.

However, if a window well lacks a proper drainage system, it can lead to basement seepage, costly water damage, mold growth, and potential foundation damage. This is especially true in areas with heavy rainfall or expansive soil.

If your window well doesn't have a drain or is not draining quickly enough, you have a few options. For gravel-based systems, the stone may have compacted and needs to be improved. For a more robust solution, you can hire a plumber or window installer to connect the well to a drainage system. This can also be a DIY project using a shovel or auger.
