Emergency services offered

"I called on a Saturday when the office was closed and Andy called me back immediately even though I did not leave an urgent message. He and Dominique came out first thing Monday morning and found the problem of our water leak near the meter. He worked all day to make sure we had water back on that night. He was efficient, amazingly polite, economical and got us up and running as quickly as humanly possible. I would recommend Andy and EarthSystems anytime."

Customers say: Quality work

"They sent me one of their employees/subcontractors, Eddy Martinez. He is kind and generous with his time. Is knowledgeable about the plants and can advise me on choices for starting a garden. I'm lucky to have him. This is the second year he has worked with me. Knowing I have back problems, I would choose the plant and he would do the work. Would even go to nursery he uses regularly and pick up larger orders himself. I would recommend him to everyone!!!"

Lawn Care questions, answered by experts

Weeds may grow back when pulled out if the root is not completely removed. Invasive weeds can regrow from just a small portion of remaining root, so using a weed-pulling tool can help ensure you remove the entire root. Weeds may grow back faster if roots aren’t fully removed, and incomplete removal could cause them to spread as well.

While it's a good idea to water your grass during a drought or when temperatures are high, you should not water your lawn every day. For most lawns, watering one to three times per week is sufficient. Avoid watering in the middle of the day or when the temperature is above 95 degrees Fahrenheit, as the extreme heat will cause the water to evaporate before the soil can fully absorb it. The best time to water your lawn in the summer is in the early morning at dawn or in the early evening, such as between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., when it's cooler.

Yes, Bahia grass spreads on its own thanks to its short stolon system. However, it might not seem like your Bahia grass spreads well due to its slow growth. Bahia grass takes around 3 to 4 weeks to germinate and an additional two weeks to grow thicker.

During this time, fast-growing, competitive weeds may pop up, so weed your lawn to give your Bahia grass a chance to grow. This grass can take up to two years to become established. Once established, Bahia grass typically does well in suitable climates.

No, you don’t need to edge your lawn every time you mow it, but you can if that’s your preference. Some homeowners edge their lawns weekly, every other week, monthly, or at the start of a new season (more likely for those with landscaping material like brick, plastic, or metal edging). It’s up to you how often you edge, and it depends on how quickly your grass grows and how crisp you want your edge lines to be.

Always mow the lawn on a short setting when overseeding. The thinner coverage offers more space for the grass seed to take root in the soil. When reseeding a lawn, however, you may need to remove your old turf altogether.
