"Freeman Repairs did an incredible job! They completed the work in a timely and professional manner. I feel they went above and beyond, making multiple trips to my property to make sure things dried correctly and that the project had the right finished look. Would absolutely rehire."

"WOW‼️ What can we say about David Hackett, and his amazing work ethic, skills, talent, and beyond…? David is the owner of Castle Coatings, and he excels in refurbishing & reglazing baths, showers, and sinks. We didn’t need a new bathroom, we needed it to look new again, and David did not disappoint! I am posting “after-photos” here, as ya’ll don’t need to see the before (trust me!). There is prep work done, before reglazing surfaces many times. We chose a beautiful white cream, gray speckled pattern- look up close! Only the sink was coated w/ plain white (a sheet covers mirror, above). Brand-new bath hardware, inc. rainshower head. All work performed for a VERY reasonable amount of $$$! We highly recommend David, and his ball of positive energy! SO happy we found him, and he deserves his 5 Stars! His happy attitude comes free! 🥰🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 — feeling amazed 🤩"

Bathtub Restoration questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use a dremel tool to cut plexiglass. Follow the instructions under “How to Cut Plexiglass with a Saw,” and use a dremel tool with a 561 bit instead of a saw.

Typically, you need to wait two to three days after reglazing before using your bathtub. This allows the epoxy resin to cure properly. However, the exact time can vary depending on the materials used. Some quick-dry epoxy kits cure in as little as 12 hours, while others may have a four-hour cure time, allowing for same-day use. To ensure the epoxy dries correctly, ventilate the bathroom well. Always check the manufacturer’s instructions and consult with your reglazing professional for specific guidance on when it is safe to use the tub.

The reglazed tub won’t last as long as a brand-new bathtub. Professional reglazing jobs can only last up to 15 years.

According to most pros, you can only reglaze a tub once or twice. So, if you’ve already reglazed your tub once, it might not be a realistic solution.

Some chemicals used in reglazing a bathtub can be dangerous to your health. If you’re DIYing the project, ensure the room is ventilated, and always wear a mask. If you hire a contractor, make sure you get the clearance to use the bathroom again.

Surprisingly, cleaning an air bath is almost as easy as relaxing in one. Most air baths have a self-cleaning or drying cycle to remove moisture from the inner tubing. This prevents mold and keeps the tub ready for your next soaking session. For deeper cleaning, use mild soap and a soft cloth to wipe the surfaces and periodically clean the air jets as the manufacturer recommends.

Reglazing a bathtub is worth it if your current tub is in good condition and needs to be refinished or reglazed to bring it back to its shiny, smooth glory. While battered bathtubs might need to be refinished, bathtub refinishing is worth it, too, because it can make tubs with surface imperfections, shallow cracks and scratches, and staining look like new. Reglazing a bathtub is less expensive than refinishing, and both are less than the cost of bathtub replacement.
