"Great! The room had not been painted in a long time and the walls needed some TLC in addition to paint. It looks great now, better than I ever expected. The owner is knowledgeable and very easy to work with."

"I would highly recommend this business.  We had them come and restain the deck and at first just powerwash the house.  They scheduled the work right away.  After doing the pressure washing, there were some areas with paint chips under the soffit.  Mike offered to repaint those for free.  During this, they noticed areas of the soffit that were rotten, so we had them repair those areas of the wood.  They also fixed a few screens that were damaged during the pressure washing for free.
Everything turned out great, and we are very happy we had this work done.  Mike and Crystal are very professional and easy to work with.  I will be having them do some more work on our house in the near future.

"Excellent. I called Robert to come to review work in my home and give me an estimate. He came the next day and emailed me a quote the day after. Stated he had been in business for 40 years and used his own employees. I could tell he was very professional and gave him the job immediately. I asked him to come back out to my home to pick the colors for the repainting of the two bathrooms. He came the following day, I picked the colors for the repainting for him to purchase. It was a two day job. First day, the wallpaper had to be removed and mud put on the walls to sand down and set overnight to dry. Robert himself made some minor wall paper repairs in the kitchen on the first day. The two employees that removed the wallpaper and repainted the bathrooms the next day were very polite and professional and cleaned up both days before they left. One of his workers was his supervisor who had been with his company 19 years and his brother who had also been with him many years. Robert came "exactly" on time for all our appointments and his two workers also showed up "exactly" on time as promised each day. (I was lucky to find Roberts Wallpaper Removal and Painting service on Angies List). In addition on the second day they put on "two coats" of paint. One that morning and then went to lunch and that afternoon it was ready for the second coat. They finished at the end of the second day as Robert had promised. I can give Robert Bates and his company Roberts Painting the highest rating A+. They came on time, did the work exactly as quoted and did a most professional job. I am 100% satisfied with their work and will hire them in the future to do more inside painting work in my home. Both baths look like brand new with the 20 year old wallpaper down and beautiful new paint on the walls. (Great job and work all the way)!!!"

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

If you need a stronger magnetic surface, or you need to use a different type of paint in the room (like waterproof paint in a damp basement), there are other accessible options. You could fit a steel panel over the wall, try magnetic wallpaper, or apply chalk paint instead.

If you want an inexpensive shortcut, hang a pinboard or chalkboard on your wall. These removable options are ideal if you’re a renter who can’t repaint or plan to move in the near future.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

Yes, many types of peel-and-stick wallpaper can be used in bathrooms, especially those made of vinyl or polyester. However, its success depends heavily on the level of moisture and ventilation. In bathrooms with good ventilation, such as those with fans, it can be a durable option. Peel-and-stick wallpaper may not adhere as well as traditional wallpaper in very humid conditions. For bathrooms that see a lot of moisture, like a kids' bathroom or a full bath with a steamy shower and poor ventilation, even high-quality peel-and-stick wallpaper is likely to peel over time.

Your peel-and-stick wallpaper can fall off for multiple reasons, including high humidity levels, extreme temperature changes, poor installation, and even the wall surface. Textured walls can prevent the adhesive from fully sticking to the wall, making it more likely for the wallpaper to peel off. Low-quality wallpapers with weaker adhesives are also more likely to fall off prematurely.

One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn't last as long as traditional wallpaper. Its lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the paper, proper wall preparation and application, and the room's conditions. As a general rule, peel-and-stick wallpaper can last for at least five years, but this can vary significantly. Budget products may only last about 3 years, while higher-quality products can stay up for 7 years or more in ideal conditions. Factors that can shorten its lifespan include high humidity (such as in a bathroom), dirty walls, and low-quality paper. If used on flooring, expect it to last only 1 to 3 years unless sealed. However, the shorter lifespan can be seen as a positive, making it a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.
