Bottom line: James Fairrington stands behind his work and will do his best to come back and make repairs on work that later requires some repairs. I highly recommend him for concrete and stamped concrete work. 9-18-14 Griffin Pools came to our home and agreed to install a swimming pool. I had researched this business to make sure they were licensed & bonded with no judgments against them. I ask the salesman Rick Potter if background checks were made & he said yes. No one with a conviction would be allowed on our property. We agreed & Griffin started the process. The salesman told me and wrote on our contract to call "Bobby" Caughman (James Robert Caughman) of Lexington SC and he would come out to look at the job to do the finish work. Also another Griffin worker Brian, pool installer supervisor, told me to call "Bobby". After now being endorsed by two Griffin Pool representatives, this led me to believe that "Bobby" was a preferred contractor of Griffin Pools. I called "Bobby" and he came out and gathered the requirements, made recommendations and a high-level cost. Asked again about his relationship with Griffin Pools, he stated that they use him ALL the time to complete their work so that they can focus on installing pools, their main area of expertise. I told him to go ahead and do the work. Bobby requested a $5000 deposit of 13,700 job, which we gave to him. Block arrived at our house a few days later and work started as Griffin dug our pool. When the Griffin portion of the concrete was poured on Tue, Bobby came by and said the rest of the concrete would be poured on that Friday, but.........he needed more money. We gave him another $3775. No concrete came on that Friday, 10-24-14, nor any day after that. The wall wasn't finished. The proper foundation wasn't placed, no drain, wrong type of stone, improper sealant, and stones not overlapped. Four contractors have told us the wall is unsafe, unrepairable and had to be removed. A constructional engineer told us that all of the above and it was devaluing to our home as well. Bobby walked away from this job, no further work and $8775 of our money that we are making monthly payments on. Bobby then sent us an "updated" bogus bill of the $9000 dollars of work that he had done( which was totally made up charges). I have contacted Griffin pools many times and they claim no responsibility. We learned that Bobby has a criminal record and someone that we would have never been allowed on our property. Now Griffin Pool manager Rob Bowers states that they have no affiliation with Bobby Caughman and would not do anything to help us. I have two forms of documentation to prove that Griffin pool asked us to call this man to do the required finish work. One on the estimate of pool installation costs and the other an email from the salesman Rick Potter. I would gladly produce copies of either document. Customers beware! I spent over 35,000.00 dollars with Griffin Pools and now they claim no responsibility. I have a huge mess in my back yard, thousands of dollars to repair it, torn up irrigation system, engineering fees and $8775 our of our pocket.

I called the proprietor, Ruben Simpson, and he came out right away to give us an estimate, which was very reasonable. Not only that, but he was able to schedule the work for the following week. Mr. Simpson was responsive to my design requests for the new driveway and sidewalk.
The removal of the old concrete went smoothly, as well as blocking out the new design. The pouring of the new concrete was to be done over two days. The first day there was rain in the forecast but they went ahead. Unfortunately, the storms were severe which meant that the new concrete took much longer than planned to "cure." The second delivery of concrete was poured on wet soil. Within days of completion, a significant crack had already appeared, and more have followed.
Mr. Simpson and his co-worker did not clean up the site well. They also promised to return "tomorrow' and apply sealant to the driveway (for a small additional fee). I agreed, but they never returned either to clean up or to apply the sealant - and that was over two months ago. For the most part, the new driveway and sidewalk look good, but we don't think such a new installation should already show cracks and crumbling concrete around seams and edges. As soon as he got our check (which he cashed practically before the ink dried) he was done with us."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/sc/ridgeway/all-star-concrete-reviews-8690754.htm"},"position":8}]}

"Before contract signed Chris agreed to leave a 3 ft perimeter around the build site for drainage, and to move the excavated dirt to specified area. He did neither of these things which caused erosion and cave-in. He compromised our cement driveway by digging under it. He refused to listen to anything I told him I wanted done. He had children onsite (11 yrs old), one of his employees came to work intoxicated, with sandals on and smoked weed onsite. We have pictures. Constantly asking for money. He left his "crew" to finish as soon as we paid final payment. The crew cut the relief joint before the concrete was dry so it has chipped and concrete truck cracked our driveway in multiple places. Chris was supposed to be guiding him. A reputable concrete company inspected the job today, giving us an estimate of $16,500 to fix everything that Chris did wrong, starting with busting out the concrete and starting over. Chris was very arrogant and just would not listen to us and did it his way."

FAQs for concrete finishing projects in North, SC
Concrete repair costs range anywhere from about $0.10 to $0.15 per linear foot to fill minor cracks, to about $6 to $14 per square foot to replace damaged concrete slabs. Repair costs vary widely depending on the size and type of work needed. For example, replacing 100 square feet of driveway will cost between $600 to $1,400, on average.
The average cost of stamped concrete is around $12 per square foot, but you might pay anywhere from $8 to $28 per square foot. The average 12-foot by 12-foot patio costs $1,730 on average. Your exact pricing will depend on the patio’s square footage, the condition of the area where you want to pour the concrete, the desired stamp pattern, concrete coloring, concrete grade, and local labor prices. Don’t forget to budget for extra costs like land preparation and additional concrete fortifications if necessary.
Depending on the cost to repair your driveway, it may be more cost effective to tear out and replace it with a new concrete driveway. The cost to repave a driveway ranges between $1,400 and $12,100, including removal of the old concrete. Contact a reputable concrete contractor for advice and an estimate. They may have a good reason for going with repairs or replacement after assessing your driveway. You may also have the option to resurface your driveway or pave over it without taking out the existing one.
It’s possible to create stamped concrete yourself, but we don’t recommend it and it’s often not cost-effective. It’s easy to mess up the pattern of a stamped concrete patio or walkway, leaving you with an unsightly home exterior rather than the elegant solution you wanted. Any mistakes made during the ground leveling and concrete pouring process will also increase the risk of cracks forming on your concrete. Additionally, buying enough stamps to get the pattern in before your concrete cures can cost as much as hiring a professional to do the work for you.
Concrete contractors typically charge anywhere from $6 to $14 per square foot. Cost factors include job size, site prep, base material, accessibility, your location, concrete finish, and concrete thickness. Removal of existing concrete, asphalt, deck, pavers, and grass will cost anywhere from $1 to $6 per square foot. Homeowners can often save money by removing and disposing of existing pavers, decks, and grass. Breaking up and hauling away concrete and asphalt is difficult and time-consuming without the proper equipment and may be worth having the pros do that work.
