"i’ve used direct plumbing about 4 times now from hot water heater repair, toilet fix, shower plumbing issues and more, this time they went above and beyond to make sure i had hot water, when you adore a company for great customer support and know the work will be done and done right and their prices are so reasonable, seriously what else can you ask for in a company. huge thank you for all you all have done to help make our house a home."

"Atkinson and Sons Plumbing have done several jobs around the home my son inherited. They have installed a new toilet, updated our shower surround, unclogged a large drain pipe, and installed a drain vent. They will be fixing our propane piping from the meter to the furnace. They understand our budget and suggest ways to complete what needs to be done. They go above and beyond every time. Wayne and Drew are good people who do right by their customers."

"We would highly reommend RH Builders for any construction related work. They were very professional from the estimate through the completion of the job. We had other companies who immediately wanted to remove the complete shower, but RH Builders did only what was necessary to repair the problem. The cost came in a little higher than anticipated, but the professinalism and workmanship made the additional cost well worth it."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks. If you have trouble removing the toilet, hire a plumber to help.

The first step to clearing the air in a line is to locate the cause. This is usually a blockage in either the drain or the venting system. Once you clear the issue, flush the system by actually flushing the toilets repeatedly. This should allow the trapped air to escape, thus clearing the lines. Don’t be surprised if there is increased bubbling as the air makes its way through the system.

Many homeowners stress about cleaning before an emergency plumber arrives, but you’re far better off doing the following while you wait for your plumber to get to your home:

  • Shut the water off at your water main if you have a leak or a burst pipe

  • Avoid using any water fixtures in your home, including appliances

  • Clear a path to the problem area so that it’s easily accessible

  • Consider shutting your breaker if you’re concerned that the leak may affect your electrical system

Yes, you can install a basement bathroom without breaking concrete by using an upflush toilet system, which includes a macerator pump. These systems sit on top of the concrete floor, so you don't have to drill into it to install plumbing. The macerator pump breaks up waste until it is soft enough to pass through a discharge pipe to the main sewage line. This method saves you time and money by bypassing the need to break concrete to connect drain pipes.

The most practical and common setup is a toilet that connects with the sewer line or a septic tank. However, it is possible to install a toilet without a sewer line, and this can be particularly helpful in basements with no or outdated plumbing. An increasingly popular option is an environmentally friendly composting toilet. Other waterless options include incinerating or dry flush toilets, which pull the waste into an airtight container.
