"The owner was very professional. When he did the estimate, he showed me exactly where the gutters were going up and how well made the gutters were. His estimate not only included what the cost was, but also copies of his business license and insurance. His quote was slightly pricier than other quotes, but the professionalism was definitely worth it. Also, we had an issue with some dryer vent covers that were too high for us. The crew was able to safely attach those. All in all, I definitely recommend"

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Yes, caulking or sealing your vinyl gutters is a good way to help prevent gutter leaks. When you’re installing gutters, it’s important to overlap the sections to help avoid issues like leaks or drips, but they can still happen. In this case, adding caulk can help. Make sure to use a caulk designed for multiple surfaces, like a silicone-based caulk. You can also purchase a gutter sealant as well, which is specifically designed for this purpose.

Costs depend on gutter length, damage severity, and labor rates.

It’s technically possible to remove some soffit material without removing your gutters, but it’s usually a good idea to remove gutters, fascia, and soffit and then reinstall them in the opposite order. Replacing soffits without removing gutters is likely to leave you with a less professional and clean appearance, and you’re more likely to do damage to your gutters and fascia boards in the process.

While minimal drippage may not be problematic, gutters that are constantly leaking or overflowing indicate damage or improper installation. A rain chain gutter or other ornamental feature may produce more dripping than usual. Likewise, rain dispersal systems may also cause water to sprinkle to the ground. However, if you notice pools of water or flooding around your property, then it’s a good idea to have your gutter system inspected.

In most cases, it makes more sense to repair leaking or damaged gutters than it will to replace them. You’ll spend an average of $400 to repair your gutters, while full replacement will cost around $2,000 or more, depending on the gutter material and style and the size of your home. If your gutters are nearing the end of their lifespan—usually around 20 years for aluminum or vinyl gutters or up to 50 years for copper or steel—then it might make sense to replace them, as it could cost you less in the long run.
