"We had issues with one corner of our kitchen having over a 1à ¢à  à  drop. We also had water/mold collecting in the crawl space. We did our research and got several estimates and decided on Mountain Valley. Danny Snee was our Certified Field Inspector and he was very professional and knowledgable about our situation. We decided that a full encapsulation would solve our foundation problem. Danny was always available to take our calls and discuss scheduling and any concerns that we had. Tyler (Will) Williams (Foreman), KJ (Co-Foreman) and Brandon (Installer) did our encapsulation and were very professional and walked us through step by step on what they were doing. Their technical experience and professional was unprecedented. I would recommend this company and team to do any of my foundation work."

"We were replacing old Gutters that overflowed every time it rained. I got three bids for the job. Gutter Glove wasn’t the cheapest but based on our conversation, I felt it would be the best solution. The covers are by far the best I’ve seen. That will save me a lot of climbing on the roof. Troy arrived right on time, did exactly what he said he would, cleaned up after himself...no issues at all. We had a day of heavy rain later in the week and the gutters worked perfectly. They also look great. I would definitely hire Troy again."

"It was okay. They did not charge anything additional. The guy came in because he was checking the foundation and once he left, I realized I had dirt throughout my house, everywhere he went. He had dirty boots that I didn't realize were dirty until he left. He went upstairs and everywhere he went, he tracked dirt throughout my house, so I wasn't very happy with that. They call me at least once a month because they gave me an estimate, so they call me about it. That is irritating. I would tell people to give them a chance and to make sure they take off their boots first. When she called the first time, I told her that we were thinking about it, so she asked if she could call back in about 3 weeks, and I said yes. When she called I said we had not yet made a decision and now they call once a month, and I haven't spoken with them, but she leaves a message. That is not a big deal, because I should have just told them not to call. My big problem is that he checked the foundation under the house and then came with mud into the house. We got another estimate that was like $6000 less. They were aggressive with responsiveness."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Damp proofing and waterproofing are both methods to help keep your basement dry. Damp proofing keeps soil moisture from entering your basement, which is helpful since your basement is underground. Waterproofing, however, keeps both soil moisture and liquid water out of the basement, which is essential, especially if you live in a wet environment. Because it’s more protective, waterproofing typically costs more than damp proofing.

Whether to waterproof your basement from the interior or exterior depends on several factors, including your budget.

Exterior waterproofing is generally considered the superior method because it stops water at the source, preventing it from seeping into and damaging your basement walls. This approach offers the most protection, making it ideal if you use your basement for storage.

By contrast, interior waterproofing is often less expensive and requires less labor because the area is more accessible.

For maximum protection against water leakage and moisture, applying waterproofing measures to both the inside and outside is the best solution. However, if you must choose only one, stopping water from the outside is the most effective approach to preserve your foundation and prevent damage.

A sump pump can remove excess moisture from under a house if standing water is present. Other ways to protect your crawl space from moisture include installing a vapor barrier, using a dehumidifier, installing insulation, and using a fan to dry the space. Finally, keeping your gutters clear of debris and positioning your downspouts away from the home’s foundation can prevent moisture from getting into the crawl space in the first place.

Crawl space encapsulation typically lasts between 10 to 20 years. If you experience a catastrophic event, like a flood, or poorly encapsulate your space with low-quality materials, it may only last a decade. Otherwise, as long as you properly maintain your crawl space, a high-quality encapsulation can last more than 20 years.

It depends on what caused your basement flooding, the extent of the problem, and the risk of the flood continuing. If your flood is coming from a septic system or sewer line, breathing in the sewer gasses can be dangerous, so you should vacate. If the flood occurs from an ongoing natural disaster, relocating to a safe area might be wise. If you just have a plumbing leak or rainwater coming in, you can likely stay in the house if you don’t have electrical lines down there, but make sure you call in professionals to fix the issue immediately.
