Customers say: Super punctual

"Kevin and his crew did good work. He has great promptness and communication. He always lets you know the current progress of the project voluntarily. He expanded my driveway with a concrete slab. He also added a concrete skirt behind my house and added a cobble stone border around my current paver stones. The work looks clean and professional. I'm pleased with the final result."

"What a fantastic owner and crew. I have a difficult driveway due to it's pitch with rain it's a disaster! EPK continued to help me with the problem and returned a few times to insure it was perfect, so many companies before them just took my money and still left me with the problem. I would HIGHLY recommend the company !"

"Awesome! I needed to widen the driveway for 2 cars wide. Not only did the price include that work, but also the cost to dig up and replace the existing driveway. Now I have a solid double-wide driveway approximate 20' x 40'. Bill and his team were efficient, professional and friendly."

"We hired Nature Redesigned to completely replace the beds in our front yard with perennials, boxwoods, and other flowering shrubs. I love the plants that Joe chose. Now the area looks neat and will have color all season. They also tore out a driveway from our backyard, added loam, and hydroseeded the area. The job was complicated by a second driveway under the top one which called for more labor and loam. I appreciated his communication along the way regarding the additional expenses which were fair. The guys that did the work were professional and courteous. Joe came by with a care guide and also some extra seed to fill in our front lawn. I am very pleased with the results and look forward to working with him on future projects including repair of existing patio steps."

"This company provided insight into the preparation, planning, and execution of our parking lot. They went above and beyond in maximizing the look, the longevity, and the usable parking. Comments from our church family have been glowing to say the least. We will use them again when the time comes."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.

Recycled asphalt is not better than gravel, but can be a good alternative. It is inexpensive, but not as low-cost as gravel, and doesn’t tend to last as long. Recycled asphalt isn’t as dusty as gravel and is more environmentally friendly. The black look can be something that homeowners prefer. No matter what, ensure you choose an experienced recycled asphalt contractor.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

To maintain their strength, asphalt driveways and parking lots need to be sealcoated once every two to five years. You may also need to reapply paint striping every few years as it fades to ensure drivers can safely navigate the parking lot.

If you’re looking for a similar, eco-friendly driveway material, you might consider one of these options:

  • Permeable pavement: This material is sometimes called “pervious” or “porous” pavement; it allows stormwater to drain into the subbase, eliminating storm drain costs.

  • Gravel: Consider paving your driveway with locally sourced gravel. By sourcing from a nearby source, your money won’t fund international shipping and will be invested back into your local community.

  • Natural stone pavers: Because natural stone pavers are made from organically-produced stone, there’s no new manufacturing required, limiting the environmental impact. In addition, water easily flows and drains through the gaps in the pavers.
