"Had 3 rooms and ceilings painted as well as doors and trim in each room. Dave called me back the day I called him, showed up on time and he and his crew did a great job. Will use again for the next project."

"Mario did a fantastic job painting our new nursery - walls, trim and ceiling. After having a cancellation with another service provider earlier in the week, we contacted Mario and he came out next day to assess and quote the room. Two days later he was here to do the work - on time and on the budget we discussed. He came prepared with all of his equipment, showed us the paint color to confirm before he started and got right to work and finished in half a day! He was extremely personable and professional and we would highly recommend him for any job. We hope to work with Mario again the future!"

"Will did an amazing job painting our home. We called Will in a panic after someone ruined our kitchen walls claiming they were a great painter... we ended up with thick drip marks on the wall, paint on the ceiling, trim, floor, everywhere! Will stopped by, immediately knew the job was not done by a professional and explained the process to correct the botched job--sanding, primer, and then repainting the ceiling and walls. Will also painted our living room, stair way, and upstairs hallway. When he told us he doesn't use tape, I didn't know what to expect... but his work blew us away! We now have a beautiful sunny yellow kitchen, a nice beachy front door, and the thresholds are shiny and new again too! We also love our newly stained and sealed deck. In a world filled with dishonest and lazy people selling their services, Will is not only honest and hardworking, but he's also detail oriented and extremely talented. You will not be disappointed by Will. He's a great communicator, always on-time, and we look forward to having him paint the exterior of our entire house next spring."

"Overall, the service was very good.  We had several estimates from other painters to prep and paint our 90-year old stucco home that was likely not painted for 50+ years (if ever!).  Needless to say, there was a fair amount of work that needed to be done.  While the LOPCO estimate was slightly more expensive than another reputable contractor, Tom's professionalism throughout the process was a plus and he was true to his estimate.  LOPCO took the time to do the prep work right, used quality primer, and tolerated our initial indecision about color selection.  We are very pleased with their work and would not hesitate to call them again.

"Amed and the Keen Eye team were great. They were prompt in responding to my request for a quote, quick to schedule the work and finished the job on time. They answered questions along the way and were highly professional. The job came out looking amazing, exceeding my expectations. I would definitely use Keen Eye Painting again in the future."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

You should be aware of the current wallpaper and interior trends before hanging it, especially if you are planning on selling or listing your home soon. Do people in your market tend to prefer bold designs and accent walls, or does having a simpler print all over seem like a better idea? Lastly, you want something that appeals to your aesthetic preferences; hanging wallpaper is an investment of your time and money after all.

Yes, you can apply peel-and-stick wallpaper over wood paneling, but it requires significant preparation for a good result. Peel-and-stick wallpaper has a weaker adhesive than traditional wallpaper and works best on smooth, non-textured surfaces like painted or primed drywall. Because wood paneling is often textured with grooves, any flaws in the underlying surface will likely be visible after application. To prepare the paneling, you must ensure the surface is free of cracks, holes, and protrusions by filling any indentations and sanding rough spots to create a smooth surface. An alternative is to remove the paneling and apply the wallpaper directly to the underlying drywall or plaster, provided it is in good condition.

To determine how many rolls of peel-and-stick wallpaper you need, measure the square footage of the walls you’re covering and divide that by the square footage that each roll covers. Add 10% to 20% of your total square footage to account for pattern matching or damage while installing.

If you need a stronger magnetic surface, or you need to use a different type of paint in the room (like waterproof paint in a damp basement), there are other accessible options. You could fit a steel panel over the wall, try magnetic wallpaper, or apply chalk paint instead.

If you want an inexpensive shortcut, hang a pinboard or chalkboard on your wall. These removable options are ideal if you’re a renter who can’t repaint or plan to move in the near future.

Both paint and wallpaper can work in a bathroom, provided you choose high-quality products in either category. Washable vinyl wallpapers can stand up to bathroom humidity without peeling, as can semi-gloss or gloss paint finishes. However, if you’re someone who likes to redecorate often, paint may make it easier to change colors or designs more quickly. If you want full humidity protection and cleanability, tile or stone works better.
