In our case, Jonathan not only had to tear out a significant amount of old shrubbery & dispose of it, but did minor regrading, provided a French drain with tie-ins to our downspouts, & provided a finished landscape project with a very impressive finished project. They pruned a 50ft Pin Oak that was riddled with dead branches, top to bottom, but also removed unsafe branches that extended out over the street and our 40ft home. They also pruned a 50ft Tulip tree to allow for more sunlight to internal branches for more efficient growth. Neighbors agree both trees look 100% healthier and beautiful to look at. Rich also removed a 40 ft Spruce Pine between our home and the neighbors, in close proximity (11ft), by donning his climbing gear and dropping the tree in no time. It is a science. All that work accomplished in 2 days and for a very reasonable price. Check out his website, give him a call. Their expertise extends well beyond just tree service. Thank you Rich and team!"

Pressure-treated wood can not only be painted and stained, but it should be; doing so will help to prevent surface or deck board cracking. Allow the wood to dry out before painting it, as pressure-treated wood from the hardware store takes longer to dry than kiln-dried lumber. If water beads on the surface, it needs additional time to dry—in fact, it can take weeks or even months to fully dry. As soon as the wood absorbs water on the surface, it is ready to be painted or stained.

Late spring or early summer is usually the best time to stain a fence. Pick your timing carefully and aim to start your DIY when you see a forecast that shows no rain and low humidity levels for at least a few days. If it’s too hot (like in the middle of summer), the stain will dry out too quickly. If it’s too cold (like in the winter and early spring), the stain might not be able to fully dry.

Staining or sealing a cedar deck will help it last longer. Cedar may be tough by nature, but without protection, it can still fall victim to moisture, sun exposure, and mildew over time. Applying a stain, sealer, or both creates a shield against the elements, helping preserve the wood’s strength and appearance.

If your cedar fence is new, don’t delay. Unlike treated pine, you don’t need to wait months for the wood to dry out for it to accept stain. With cedar, the sooner, the better. Seal cedar within two weeks of installation to prevent the sun from fading its red color.
