"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

"I purchased a deal for 2 hrs of carpentry a few years ago but never used it. I found it while I was getting new granite for the kitchen last year. I called to ask if he would install brackets to support the granite and use the old voucher as payment and he did. What a nice, stand up, honest guy. I HIGHLY recommend Jeff."

"I was having a hard time getting financing from the big box lenders but Mark was able to find me one and at short notice. When it looked like the deal would fall through because of title issues from the seller, Mark offered his guidance and expertise and was right there throughout the whole process. The whole 5 months! No call was to early, late or frequent. Mark was always accessible and immediately responsive. A man of his word. This property virgin and veteran is now living the American dream thanks to Mark Principi and the Central Lending staff. I would definitely recommend."

"Alex had done some major work on the house before I listed it, so I had no problem calling him about this project.  As usual, Alex came through in the clutch and found a licensed plumber to do the work, on time and up to code.  Alex has been my go-to guy twice in the last 6 months, and he got the job done on time and at the quoted price.  Although I live 1,000 miles away, he was great at keeping me up-to-date with phone calls and e-mails.    He is an A+ contractor that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who asks."

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

The 1/3 rule is a design guideline used by interior designers and cabinet installers to select appropriately sized pulls for cabinets and drawers. The rule suggests that for a balanced and cohesive look, a cabinet pull should be approximately one-third the height of the cabinet door or one-third the width of the drawer face. This guideline helps create a symmetrical appearance because the human eye tends to follow the length of the pull across the cabinet face.

While the 1/3 rule is a helpful starting point, it is not the only option. If a measurement falls between available pull sizes, it's generally best to size up. For an ultra-contemporary aesthetic, you can also opt for full-width pulls that span the entire drawer.

While having an assistant to help ensure safety and to lend a hand is desirable, if someone isn't around to assist, you can install kitchen cabinets on your own. Normal kitchen cabinet installation starts with the upper wall cabinets. If you're working on your own, consider installing the bases first and building a temporary support structure on top of them to help you install the uppers.

DIY is possible, but professional assembly ensures proper alignment, stability, and cable management.

Yes, many providers offer design consultations to help optimize and maximize space, functionality, and usage. It is recommended to confirm the availability of this service with your specific installer or contractor.

In a kitchen installation, starting with the foundation and structural elements before moving on to the finishing touches is essential. Framing, plumbing, and utilities should go first, followed by cabinetry and countertops, then plumbing fixtures and new appliances. Flooring, paint, tile backsplashes, and similar finishing touches should get installed last.
