"Apparently, many carpet installers today are Mexican/Hispanic. The installer spoke fairly good English. His helper spoke none. Other than that, they did an excellent, very professional job. The helper was a go-for. He took out and removed the old carpet and runners, swept and vacuumed, as well as brought in the rolls of new carpet. The installer is probably one of he hardest workers I've ever seen. He worked his butt off and did a fabulous install. Wow. Very impressive!!!"

"The technician showed up for the appointment and realized after arriving that he didnt have what he needed (someone had used his truck the day before). Luckily, I had visitors and a next day appointment was able to be accomodated. If not, I would've had to take a portion of my work day off twice. That is what brings customer service to 3.5 stars. The technician should've checked his van for the necessary equipment. He did give me 10% off for the inconvenience."

"I needed my carpet repaired because my dog made a hole in it. So I used Angie’s list to make some calls. I called on Thursday and they were able to come in the next day to check it out. The service provided was efficient and the workers were punctual. I can’t even tell that there was ever a hole in my carpet. I also liked that they were nice and friendly when I talked to them. I would definitely recommend them to others."

Small jobs welcome

"Only the first half (1st bath-guest) was complete. 2nd will be done next week. They were unsuccessful in getting the floor level - which was my biggest complaint. I can't mop the floor without snagging the mop. The tile coloring/shades were off, not their problem I understand that, but don't they examine the tile before laying it? There was alot of damage to the walls and baseboards - which another professional will have to come in and fix. The bath is alright, but I don't love it, maybe it will look better once the wals and baseboards are fixed. Hopefull the 2nd bath will turn out better."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

On average, installing carpet costs between $3 and $11 per square foot, depending on factors like the carpet material, style, and labor rates in your area. Sometimes, installers will include carpet removal in these costs, so if you don’t have any carpet to remove, you can save time and spend less money on labor.

Many DIYers and pros start installing flooring in the middle of a room to ensure a balanced, symmetrical layout, especially when using tiles or planks. This process is particularly helpful in odd-shaped rooms because it allows you to create a centerline from which to work. Beginning in the center will enable you to work toward the edges so the final layout feels intentional and centered, even if the walls aren’t perfectly square.

Carpeting lasts between 10 and 15 years in most cases, but keep an eye out for common signs that it's time to replace it. Persistent smells despite deep cleaning, faded color, worn-down carpet padding, and general wear and tear are signs that it's time to tear it up. If you are experiencing allergy issues indoors, this could also be a sign that new flooring is the key to a fresher home.

In most cases, you do not need to put padding or underlayment under carpet tiles. Unlike traditional carpet, which requires a separate pad, carpet tiles are designed to be installed directly onto a firm subfloor like plywood, concrete, or tile. Many carpet tiles come with a built-in underlay and attach with peel-and-stick adhesive, double-sided carpet tape, or glue. For a more comfortable, cushioned feel, especially in residential settings, you can opt for padded carpet tiles that have a thicker underlay attached. While it's generally not recommended to install a separate pad, a compact underlayment might be used in some situations, though this typically requires professional installation. An acoustic underlay may also be considered in commercial spaces or multi-level homes where noise reduction is a priority.

Yes. When installed properly, the strong adhesive on carpet tiles keeps them in place while also allowing homeowners the flexibility to peel up an individual tile and replace it if they need to. It’s important to keep in mind that the adhesive on your carpet tiles may take some time to cure, so it’s best to leave them alone for a couple of days after you first install them.
