"We purchased a home that needed the ENTIRE interior re-painted, an out-dated red brick fireplace needed a face-lift. I requested Carl to apply a Lime Wash to the fireplace...as well as requested a bid on faux painting one room. I met with 3 other painting contractors...and only Luxe Walls could handle all of our projects. I requested a specific time frame for the work to be completed...starting the day we closed on our home & to be completed the day before our moving company dropped off our furniture. Meticulous work on the wall prep & interior painting....as well as a GREAT JOB transforming the "70's" style red brick fireplace! Loved that they handled the interior painting as well as whitewashing the fireplace and a beautiful faux finish in our bathroom. Luxe Walls started on time, finished on time....transformed our Family room & entire home. There were no surprises on the bid....& Beth was able to show me ways to save money when she first gave us their bid on our painting job. I definitely would recommend them & look forward to using them on future projects."

"This was a very involved plaster repair and remediation job, in a very old house. Grady is the only person (or company) who was willing to take on the job and drive all the way from Pennsylvania to our home in Northern Virginia. There are very few people who do this kind of work anymore (we really searched) and he is an expert in his field. We needed to work around his schedule, because he is in demand in the tri-state area, so it took awhile to schedule the work to begin... but it was worth it."

"Jeremiah Streeter painted the entire downstairs of my home. He resurfaced various areas, and repaired imperfections. The result is beautiful. He was very friendly, punctual, communicated in a timely manner, and took care of our home. I highly recommend his services!"

"I can only say great things about JA Drywall. We had quite a complicated chimney repair. From the beginning of the process, this company stood out from all the others. Most companies did not return my calls. One did respond but never showed up to start work. The JA Drywall owner came to our initial appointment on time, evaluated the job and gave us a reasonable and fair estimate. The work crew then came on time and worked really hard for two days to repair the chimney. At each stage they kept us informed of progress. They did a wonderful job, kept the site clean and tidied up once job completed. On top of their excellent work, they are a team of friendly and courteous workers, who also took care of a few other things that needed attention. I would recommend this company to all who are looking for quality work by a friendly team at a reasonable price."

"Hands down the best company I had the pleasure of dealing with. They did some drywall repair and painting at my house, their work is excellent. They made the process simple and stress free. The crew that came to my house was amazing and trustworthy, I had no problem leaving them alone when I had to go to work. They also cleaned everything once they were done. They are 5 stars all the way. I won’t hesitate to give them a call for more work."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Plaster repair costs range from $4 to $10 per square foot for refinishing, while skim coating can be less expensive, usually between $2 and $5 per square foot. The price you pay for plaster repairs will depend on the extent of the damage, the type of plaster you have on your walls, and the accessibility of the damage. Plaster repair on the exterior of your home tends to be more expensive, as there’s a higher chance that ladders or scaffolding will be necessary to carry out the repair.

Whether you can install or repair plaster yourself depends on the project's size and your comfort level with DIY projects. It's possible to handle small repairs on your own, but for larger projects like a room restoration or a full installation, it's often best to hire a local plaster professional. The final appearance, even coverage, and durability of the plaster depend heavily on proper wall preparation and application. If you are not 100% confident in your ability to achieve a professional result, letting an expert handle the job is a worthwhile investment.

Applying plaster to a wall will usually cost between $2 and $10 per square foot for both the material and labor. The cost will vary based on the quality of the plaster you’re using and whether or not prep work is required before the work begins. Wall prep can add up to about 10% to your total costs. Plastering exterior walls can be more expensive in many cases because they are taller and require scaffolding and safety equipment.

Ensures structural integrity and aesthetic consistency with proper materials and techniques.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.
